Apron Dance

I`m of Polish decent and the "money dance" or "apron dance" is a part of every wedding. The bride removes her veil and puts on a babushka (kinda like a bandana). The maid-of-honor wears an apron and collects the money, often folded bills (usually folded very tightly so that the bride and groom need to work hard to unfold them instead of ...you know).
The song repeats over and over giving each guest about 15 seconds to dance with the bride. When the last guest is done, the guests circle tightly around the bride and the groom has to bust in (I guess this is a reference to the honeymoon...we live in different times now). After a struggle, the groom lifts up his bride and carries her away on her honeymoon.
It is very romantic and symbolic and hundreds of years old. I think it is beautiful and gets me weepy. And my sister was collecting 10s and 20s...she got over $1000 at her wedding! It helped a lot and the guys got one last chance to hold the bride closely!
