Halloween Wedding

I am having a Halloween wedding this year and I am still having trouble on what kind of cake topper, glasses and serving set and what kind of cake to have. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I am getting married on Halloween of this year, and a friend of mine bought me Nightmare before Christmas toasting glasses. I have no cake server, will probably go with plain silver. I found a cool site with Frankenstein cake toppers. Http://www.askginka.com/themes/halloween.htm
They had some cakes as well.

Just how Halloween are we talking? If you are doing it to the nines with the ghosts, goblins etc, I may have a few ideas.
As far as the cake goes, why not do a "haunted house cake"? I have seen some sites with them on there. Maybe have a chocolate or carrot cake. Or have a regular type cake with orange frosting and black frosting made into spider webs going down the cake.
For glasses, start looking in the next few weeks for Halloween decorations, I have seen halloween goblets.
The possiblities are endless.

I am getting married on Halloween and my cake is going to have a creepy tree on top with a little heart carved into it with my fiance`s and my initials carved in it. The lady who is making my cake suggested it. Also, she made another suggestion to look for halloween village people (like the lighted villages people put out at christmas time) I thought that another wonderful idea, but still stuck with the tree. Also, my cake is going to be square tiers all lopsided with frosting going from gray to black....very creepy....maybe all of my guests will end up with black smiles...LOL

I am getting married on Halloween and my cake is going to be a "casket" with a red rose (live) thrown on it and ivy all around it. There will be a tomb stone that says "Here lies all of Rich & Cindy`s past relationships...dead and burried". We are going all out...guest are encouraged to dress in costumes.

I saw today at K-mart they have the cutest skeleton bride and groom couple. They stand about 12 inches and sing to each other "I got you babe".
They also had the goblets I had mentioned in the earlier posting.
Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes!! :-)

I personally think a halloween wedding is very immature sounding...your relatives are probably like...alrightie then...whatever.... I guess it`s your wedding and you can do what you want but...a fall wedding is nice without all the added weired stuff...Will you really look back on these pictures years from now and not be embarrassed?..You`ll probably end up hiding them.:-)

Wow, with a name like Casper I would think a Halloween wedding would be right up your alley. How rude of you to tell people that they would be embarassed with thier wedding pics just because they are getting married on Halloween. I personally will be proud of my pics. Having a Halloween wedding takes imagination and originality. I hope you are happy with your plain old run of the mill wedding that most people have. To me, they are BORING!!!!

Traci,

Ignore Casper`s comments on your idea being immature -- Casper is apparently not a friendly ghost. Perhaps she is the immature one for saying something so inappropriate.

I think your idea is fantastic and original! I like the idea of the bride and groom skeletons for the cake toppers and the idea of the haunted house for the cake -- fabulous!. I actually saw a picture of an amazing haunted house cake at one of the local grocery stores around me (I live in the Minneapolis MN area and saw it at a Lunds).

You could do small goody bags filled with candy for table favors. Also, you could do some really fun things with the punch bowl (like have eyeballs in it, etc). Also, the things you could do with pumpkins will be awesome.

Good luck and I love your idea!

I think you all are smoking something....traditional weddings don`t have to be boring...it all depends on how much you want to put into it to make it original..I think it`s wonderful that you are being creative, but like "Casper" I don`t really see why you would choose a Halloween theme when there`s so many themes to go with...whatever floats your boat Hunny..Have fun it`s your day.

Whatever happened to "If you Don`t have anything nice to say, don`t say anything at all."? I can`t believe you people would insult Traci like that.....she is getting married in one month so obviously all of her plans are pretty much done. Making fun of her theme is not at all productive on this site. She didn`t ask if you liked her theme, she didn`t ask your opinion on that.......she wanted to know about where one can find a cake topper, glasses, and serving set that are Halloween`ish. I can`t believe how rude some people are on this site. All brides are stressed out enough over planning a wedding and then you get some evil, catty women get on and decide to make others feel bad.

Didn`t your parents teach you better manners than this!!!!!!!!!!

As for one who is planning a Halloween wedding, I can`t believe how rude some people are. You plan your wedding according to your individual tastes and preferences. My fiance and I love Halloween and thought it would be perfect time for us to get married. Good Luck Traci and Congrats!!

WoW such negativity! I am also getting married on Halloween.....It actually is the most magical day to get married on.... I cant think of a better day....not going with the norm is part of being yourself.....I suppose I could have gotten married on Valentines day but BORING!!! What is more fun then dressing up, esp if you got kids like I do...They are looking forwards to it....and yes we are doing it to the nine!!! My finace is going as the crow...I am having a black flowers for the whole party all 19 of us....and yes everyone is dressing up......Me yes I am wearing the fancy dress but I am having my self made up more or less gothic like.....our wedding cake is a haunted house graveyard and a pumpkin patch and I LOVE the idea for a Jack and Sally bridal couple....I just might steal that idea...We have spider goblets, and our ring pillow is balck with red spiders and webs, trimed in black cord with a red ribbon and spider in the middle.....I have 4 boys and they all are wearing tuxes 2 in white 2 in black and they will have their faces painted like skeletons.....I say that themed weddings are the BEST.....so much fun and leave lasting memories....I have had so much fun doing all this, and my kids are so looking forwards to it........so all you hun bugs, just shush!!! Just because you dont have a creative bone in your body is NO reason to put down someone elses!!! And by no means will I ever be ashamed of my wedding pictures, I have already bought a huge assortment of frames I plan to hang them EVERYWHERE! MCL to you all!

Today we made my favors - Halloween candy wrapped like spider webs in a cauldron! I am right there with Katie, Liz, and Maddie. I think Casper is feeling a mite inferior with all of these creative people writing in! Hey Casper, you should change your name and go back to that safe little bubble of yours! Hee Hee
I am feeling devilish less than two weeks away from the wedding, everyone is so looking forward to it! I would say that 95% of my guests will be dressing up. I am going to put a Bride of Frankenstein wig on after the ceremony and my husband is going to be Frankenstein. We are going to have all Halloween music - the Mash, of course, but stuff like Black Magic Woman, Spooky, Back in Black, etc..... And we are also having a swing band. And a mentalist! This man Rory Raven runs a ghost walk in Providence and I was so impressed with him we hired him for the wedding. He`s going to mess around with guests during the cocktail hour. My father-in-law made me a black coffin for our wishing well. Everyone has been so supportive, even if they don`t really get it. My invitations were black coffin boxes that opened up to a burgundy velvet interior with gold ink. They are so cool, everyone flipped over them!
I designed the cocktail napkins - our names & date with two bats that are shaped like hearts. There are so many details that I couldn`t list them all. It will definitely be a magical night!
I also want to say that in no way will I be embarrassed about my photos - this is who I am and leopards don`t change their spots. I hope in 20 years I will look back on those photos and laugh my butt off over what a great time we had!!!
As far as "so many other themes without all the added weird stuff" - Not everyone wants to be BORING, STUFFY, and CLOSEMINDED. My mother`s birthday was on Halloween, and she passed away when I was 14(I`m now 31) so this is my way of paying tribute to her. I am wearing her gown which is now 39 years old and it is still gorgeous. What an honor it will be to wear it. So how dare anybody judge me for not having a prissy, snotty wedding!!! If you think I`m weird, so be it.
All you Halloween ladies out there, I will be thinking about on you on the wedding night hoping you are having as much fun!!! Rock on! Best of luck to everyone!

Way to go Holly! And all you other `Halloween` brides.
I think these weddings sound like a blast. After all, what is a wedding but a celebration.
As far as being embarrassed, what about our mothers who look back at their 50`s , 60`s and 70`s weddings with the big hair and huge bowties? Times and styles change. Atleast with the themed weddings, they generally never change. Halloween will still be Halloween and Cinderella will still be Cinderella 50 years from now.
Regardless of what the decorations, attire, food etc. Are, what matters most is your commitment to each other and the celebration of your love. If you happen to want a theme to reflect your personalities, even better.
I wish you all the best ladies. I wish we could see pictures of these awesome sounding weddings.

And here I thought I was strange planning a Halloween wedding! My wedding isn`t until October 30th, 2004 and I can`t thank you all enough for giving me these great ideas! I love the coffin invitations and the cake topper! I`m so torn as to whether I want to pick a "pretty" costume or if I want to just go all out and be wild and crazy. We`re having everyone dress up too. I need more ideas and details! Keep them coming ladies. If someone has a chance (even after your weddings) I would love it if you could shoot me an email with more about your own Halloween weddings. We are having the ceremony and reception in this cool barn I found. The spookier, the better ; ) I guess maybe a Halloween wedding isn`t for everyone... But I can tell you that everyone I have told about it wants an invitation (even people I don`t know!).
