Engagement Party

I am having a october wedding and have invited close friends and family(56) people. Unfortunatley, not everyone knows each other and all I can think about is uncomfortable silence during my wedding dinner. I was thinking about having a BBQ at our house a month before the wedding that way everyone can meet but would this be appropriate a month before the wedding?

If people don`t have to travel out of town for your barbeque, i think that it would be a great idea!

Have a luau( i can`t spell forgive me) with tiki lamps and torches you know have a theme for your barbeque I`m guessing that since your having a bbq than it will be warm. You could set up a bar made to look like a hut and if you in a budget have them make their own drinks that is if your serving alcoholic beverages buy grass skirts from the dollar store or make them withe different color plastic cut it up and hot glue it to elastic belts from a fabric store, or have your guest dress in hawaiian print. If you have a backyard you could set up a little wade pool you know those kiddie pools that cost 10 at target you could put ice and beers in that or just haveit as decoration to go withthe theme. You could have live music like a band perform or just set up a music system. You could have kids perform a dance or not. You know what you want be creative and festive you getting MARRIED you want everyone to see how happy you and your mate are to be getting the opprotunity to spend the rest of you live with the person you love. It doesn`t matter if eveyone doesn`t know each other all that matters is that you are in love and ready to take the plunge into marriage. Everything else is secondary. Good luck with the party and have a healthy, loving, long life filled with eternal love for one another.
