I did, and it was the best day of my life. I just got married this past month and let me tell you eveyone still talking about it, it was a small reception and in a budget, but it came out like it was very expensive. I did everything myself from the location, flowers, food, decorations, etc. So if you need anyt help just send me an e-mail, I have pictures too.

I have also been wondering the same thing. My husband and I decided to renew our vows in a church and throw a huge reception afterward and do it just like a wedding. I had been receiving lots of negative responses from family members saying we are already married, or that I can`t wear a nice elaborate gown . I say why not , I am paying for it anyway and now knowing that someone else is doing this also, it makes me feel that I`m not the only one who is doing this.

Yes, My husband and I were married by the JOP, and for our 5 year anniversary we are renewing our vows. I am having my dress and everything! My husband and I are walking hand-in-hand down the isle, we are saying vows that are appropriate for already being married, and we are having a reception afterwards with a small dance, but no cake. It is going to be a great celebration! Let em know if you need anymore advice!

I never thought I would find information on renewing vows with a real wedding! I will be having a ten year anniversary soon. My husband and I were married by a judge and then had our marriage blessed by our parish, but I didn`t wear a wedding dress and there wasn`t a reception, just a luncheon with immediate family. I want so bad to walk down the isle in a beautiful wedding gown, with our children in our wedding. I need advice, on how to keep costs low and any good information from someone that has done this already.
Thank You, Natalie

Yes,
I had a small marraige ($50) away from all family and friends--it wasn`t a secret, just the only opportunity two lovers had at the time. Now 8 1/2 yrs and two children later... We are very much loking forward to having the wedding we always desired (on our 10 yr anniversary) Family and Friends bridal gown the Whole Sha-Bang!!
Good Luck to you- I would offer my help, but I have just begun to look myself :)

I think this is a great web site, I am also planning to renew my vows, and I have a question. My husband and I went to JOP, and now we are having a wedding in the church, because it is important to us to have our marriage vows blessed. My question is can my father walk me down the isle? I`m being told since I am already married, he is not giving me away, but I `m not sure if I just want my Dad sitting , there even if we are renewing, would it be okay or not for my dad to walk me down the isle? Thank You, Michele

It is your wedding so, do what your heart desires, that is what I did, and my renewal was the best !!
Who cares what everyone else thinks, it is your day to do what you really desire.
Good Luck

Yes, I too am planning our vow renewal for our 30th Anniversary. We were never married in church and so I now have our family church reserved. I feel overwhelmed and know what I would like too have, but feel like it may be inappropriate. I raised 4 step-children. Have two daughters from this marriage and 4 grandsons, which I would love all of them to participate in this as this has been our life for the past 30 years. Is this madness or what?

Like many of you me and my husband go married by a JOP. But ours was due to military obligations and very soon we will be reunited (just a matter of weeks now). We have been talking over the past few months via internet and decided to renew our vows. We are lucky enough to have a beautiful County Park and Zoo nearby that has a gazebo over a lake. As our reception will be held at one of the park`s pavillions in a luau wedding theme. As for food we are asking people to bring there favorite dishes and even putting a place in the response cards for them to let us know what dish they are bringing (so we don`t end up with 20 bowls of potato salad). And as for the cake I got an idea from watching a wedding show on the learning channel, we are gonna have two types of cakes side by side, one strawberry and the other lemon and have them dusted in powdered sugar and decorated with edidle flowers. So I hope this helps you all out with ideas ora starting place of your own. Email me with any questions, I would be happy to come up with suggestions for you also. As a military wife and stay home mom be patient it could take me a few days to reply.

Good luck to you all. I hope you plan a beautiful ceremony and reception as we have for this May.

Take care.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary next month. It has been a flume ride with good times as well as bad.Recently there was a family tragedy,he lost his beloved grandmother to cancer. Since we were not married in a catholic church as she wanted I am trying to surprise him with a vow renewal in her church as she originally wanted us married there. I think it would be a nice tribute to a wonderful woman who is dearly missed.

My husband and I got married 2 years ago in front of a judge on his lunch break. It was the saddest day of my life. No one came to witness us say vows. I am trying to get some ideas on renewing vows. I always wanted a big wedding, with bridesmaids, flowers, big reciption, and cake. Is that still possble?? I want to try and renew our vows on our third anniversary. If you could help it would be great,
Thanks, Melissa

I am so happy to hear that my husband and I aren`t the only ones out there wanting to do this. We got married by the JOP also and had a small reception with family . I want the real thing. We are turning 10 years in 3 years but we are saving and planning. I still don`t know if I am going to wear a wedding dress or just a summer white dress. But I already have my maid of honor. I don`t care If people think we are silly , Its our dream they can share with us or not.

Hello everyone I have been reading your comments and me and my husband have also been looking in to another ceremony. We have started planning however we have been married for 6 years and I want to start saving for a extravegent wedding buy our tenth wedding anniversary. We had a small wedding but I would not change it for the world it was beautiful on a strict budget. That`s where the problem lies we have family members who helped with the wedding and they feel dissapointed in the fact that I want to redo my wedding. I do not want to offend anyone but this is going to be my dream wedding. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can talk to them and not offend them? Also we are moving from tennessee to maryland and I since I have never done this before does the couple who are renewing their vows have to pay for the traveling guest? If so I may be saving for a couple more years.(haha)

My husband and I were married in my mom`s living room!!!! We are renewing next year for our 10th (2006) in Vegas, and having a big "reception" here in Ohio with "bridesmaids" and "groomsmen" and everything. I have read that you`re not supposed to, but everyone seems to support us. I think it`s my day, and I never got the wedding I wanted, so if I`m paying for it, I don`t care what etiquette calls for!! I say go for it! I`m doing the wedding and honeymoon all in one!
