Brazilian Wedding Attire

Hi! I am an American 27 year old woman and will be attending a Brazilian wedding in March in Brazil. I have never been to Brazil. Is the attire for guests the same as it would be for an American wedding? Is a short cocktail dress appropriate? Or is a more formal long gown better? Please advise. Thanks!
