DAVID`S BRIDAL RIP-OFF
My daughter and I also made the mistake of going to David`s Bridal in Pineville, NC. We found a discontinued dress that we liked. When I found out that ALL sales are final (Yes, they do mean ALL) we asked the salesperson about the alterations that might be needed. She assured us they could be done and IN NO EVENT would they cost us more than $150. That would be the maximum. Of course, she threw in how the dress might not be there tomorrow so we should just buy it and then come back for alterations.
My first mistake was not getting her to put the $150 cap in writing. When we did take it back for alterations, they came to $200. Talking to the "manager" was a joke as she in as much called me a liar. The $50 was not the issue. The issue was that even with all the details of the discussion with the salesperson, the manager told us it was not their policy to give alteration quotes. HELLO! I don`t care what the "policy" is, Devyn wanted to make a sale and she said what she needed to do to make it. The manager let us know how she was going to get yelled at and place her job in jepordy, but she would credit us $25 for the alterations. Big favor. I knew then I would NOT buy my dress there along with 2 others who needed dresses. Hope the $25 was worth losing a sale of 3 additional dresses.
A store as big as this and they try to make you feel like crap for standing up for yourself because their staff could never do anything wrong in their eyes.. Think this is the end of the story? OH NO! THERE`S MORE.
My daughter goes back to pick up the dress and the cap sleeves we had put onthe dress did no line up. It was the first thing she noticed after she put on the dress. The seamstress plays dumb, but when forced to look at it has to admit they`re off. Her response was ,"well your guests are not going to look that close" WHAT! $200 for alterations and this is the attitude we get!
My daughter called me as to what to do. (They tried to get her to take the dress with her). I told her to nicely but firmly tell them she wants the sleeves fixed (we PAID for them to be done correctly) and NO she will NOT take the dress with her. All of a sudden the whole attitude of the seamstress changed to EXCEPTIONALLY RUDE and stand offish!
I called and spoke to the assistant manager Dawn, who nonchalantly said she`d walk back there and "talk" to them. Never offered to take my number and call back or offer any kind of follow-up. Just kind of a whatever attitude.
IF you choose to go to this location, insist on working with Samuel who is the ONLY dedicated person there. Unfortunately he was not there when we stumbled on this dress. Better yet, pay a few dollars more and find a place where they care more about YOU than arrogantly flounting their "no return" policy. Wish we had.
