10 Yr Renewal

When my husband and I got married in 2000 there were not very many smiles coming from the people in the pews. My family didn`t agree with our marriage and thought it was the biggest mistake of my life. It was a very small service and we didn`t have much money so I wore a blue and white dress. Also there wasn`t anyone there that was family or friends with my husband. His family lived out of state and was unable to make it. Since our wedding wasn`t what we had hoped we have always talked about renewing our vows on our ten year anniversary. Well that is coming up next July and my husband is having second thoughts. He thinks that maybe we should wait til our 15th or 20th. His Dad has put it in his head that no one will come to our wedding. So he doesn`t want to waste the money if no one shows up. I don`t want anything fancy. A simple, but elegant white dress and our friends and family. Also I have 3 children and will be including them. I want to just have it in our front yard, but he says that isn`t good enough. He said for our 10 yr we can go on the honeymoon we never had. That sounds nice and all, but I would rather renew our vows. It would be nice to have a wedding where people are actually happy to be there. Am I being unreasonable? If so please tell me.

Your not being unreasonable. I am a minister and i do vow renewals all the time. They provide a feeling to the couples that cannot be described in words. You may email me with questions or for more information. I counsel couples planning their vow renewals too and that may be a help for you too. Good Luck and God Bless.
