The Role Of A Junior Bridesmaid/Groomsman??
What is the role of a junior bridesmaid or a junior groomsman??? Do they basically stand up at the alter like the other bridesmaids and groomsmen??? I am thinking about asking my fiance`s cousins (girl will be 8 and boy will be 12) to be a junior bridesmaid/groomsman. However, I would still like to make them feel as thought they have an important role like the ring bearer and flower girl do. Can anyone provide me with some suggestions or some advice??? I appreciate all help!

Junior bridesmaids attend all the pre-wedding festivities (if any) such as bridesmaids luncheon and bridal shower. Junior groomsmen attend the grooms pre-wedding events (if they are appropriate for his age). He wears the same tux as the other groomsmen at the wedding. She wears the same dress as the bridemaids (or an age appropriate version of the dress or similar). They both walk down the aisle in the processional with the rest of the wedding party and stand at the altar during the ceremony, are announced with the wedding party into the reception, and participate in the wedding party dance. They attend the rehearsal and are invited to the rehearsal dinner and you need to give them a gift.
In other words the "junior" title pretty much makes it so they have no real duties, but it`s more of an honor position - because you love them! :-) Unless of course they want and are capable of handling some of the normal duties, that`s fine too. You shouldn`t expect it though. The only thing they are truly responsible for is purchasing their own tux/dress and having a great time!

Junior bridesmaids and groomsmen are fall between the ages of 8 and 14. Too young to be flower girls and ring barers, but not quite old enough to handle the duties of an adult in the wedding party.
