Butterfly Release Gone Wrong

I believe the release of live butterflies is a beautiful thing. However I suggest one thing... Go to a respected vendor. I order 90 painted ladies from Butterflies and Roses/Homestead Gardens from a gental man named Wayne Bulman. He gave me no directions. The butterflies were to come the day before the wedding June 6th, however they arrived a day early. I was worried becuase they had to spend an extra day in the fridge, so I called him ASAP he said "Take the box and put it in the fridge and only take it out 1-1.5 hours before the wedding" so I did. However it was VERY unsuccessful. The butterflies all fell to the ground when the guest opened them. I called Wayne after looking for a refund however he has no interest at all regarding the unsuccessful event. He refusses to give me a refund so I have to go go court to get the money. He says it is my responsability to ensure the butterflies work.. ... That he is not responsable once they are delivered. He is a very rude and not responable vender and is now in the BBB. I strongly reccommed you stay away from this vender and if you do chose to have live butterflies get some kind of garentee first!!

Better yet, don`t choose to have live butterflies period. It`s bad for the environment, for one thing - read up on it and you will discover why. Secondly, someone always ends up with at least one or two dead butterflies. It`s inevitable.

I`m so sorry that this happened at your wedding and your vendor is definitely very unprofessional. You deserve your money back and I hope you get it!! But let this be a lesson to all ----- Leave live insects and animals out of your weddings.

Well that really was unfortunate that happened at your wedding and I`m sorry to hear about that. Although, I must say, I`ve attended 2 weddings this summer as well as my own, all with butterfly releases that went off without a flaw. Wayne was more than professional with my requests, and that was why I had referred him to my other friends that had also used his services.
Again, it was unfortunate that had happened to you and I`m sure it was all resolved, but I would hate to condemn someone publicly as mistakes do happen to everyone as professional as they may be. As I said, I had attended 3 (including my own) releases from them without any problem what so ever.

I used Amazing Butterflies and my wedding was spectacular because of the butterflies. They flew all around and many landed on my guests. It was really fantastic. I checked many vendors first and found that the people at Amazing Butterflies took the time to explain everything before we amde our decision. We didn`t release the butterflies from the cute triangular boxes but from a tulle covered basket. This really made it easy and everyone could enjoy the butterflies before the wedding. The basket came with pictured instructions, everything was perfect. I thought like another person posted that it was going to be horrible to release dead butterflies, but these all were big Monarchs which all flew. They even give you a basket for free. I`ve recommended them to tons of my friends.
