Top 5 Questions To Ask A DJ Before Hiring Him/Her

DJ professional Jake Ritchie has 5 tips for those brides who may be clueless when it comes to hiring a DJ.

1.) REFERRALS: Just simply ask them for the contact information of bride & grooms from their most recent weddings they performed for. Also, you can sift through bridal chat boards & posts, references online - usually on wedding directory sites, friends or family. You have to know if a DJ was great for someone else before you consider them to be great for your wedding.

2.) CAN WE MEET? If any company tells you that you can`t meet your prospective DJ, DON`T HIRE THAT COMPANY! Many bride & grooms will be burned by not following this advice. What it means is they currently "have" Dj`s on staff for your wedding, but none at the moment picked out for your wedding. You may get stuck with a DJ two days before your wedding. These companies work on Quantity not Quality - and that`s risky business for a "special day" that has no do-overs.

3.) INSURANCE - Every DJ who goes to anyone`s wedding should have liability & equipment coverage or they will come after YOU if anything happens to their gear. This also shows a professional & caring nature of the company you`re interested in.

4.) LEGIT MUSIC - Who cares right? Wrong! If you`re first dance was downloaded illegally - who knows what glitches and sound reduction or interference you will experience. Ask them specifically if they subscribe to a professional DJ music source company because store bought albums and illegally downloaded music will contain explicit content and glitches!

5.) GUARANTEE - Do not hire a company who does not offer some type of guarantee. I guarantee my work and if I do not show up to your wedding for any reason, you owe me nothing and I have to replace myself with a qualified DJ that I will have to pay - not you! Now that`s confidence!
