Doggie Wedding
I was thinking of having my dog as the ring bearer and having someone I know walk him down the isle and stand with him. I don`t know anyone else who could do it and I love my dog so much, I really want to include him in this great day. If anyone has tried this or has any tips please get back with me.

You could try having a flower girl or ringbearer pulling him behind them on a wagon

We are having our two rottweilers in our wedding. Two of the groomsmen will walk them down. I don`t trust them enought to be ringbearers but they are part of the family so we wanted to include them somehow. We have a white bow tie for the male and a small veil for the female. Some people think it is ridiculous, but they really aren`t animal lovers.
I don`t know what kind of dog you have but if he or she is part of your family, I would include them!!!
Good luck,
Jennifer

That`s so not true, Jennifer. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I`m a total animal lover and I think it`s ridiculous. Just because many people think having a dog in a wedding is ridiculous doesn`t mean we don`t like animals.

I didn`t mean to offend anyone by my statements. I guess I should have stated it in a different way. Some people don`t consider their pets as part of their family. Some people treat them and love them as their pets. My fiance is who wanted them in it. I didn`t care either way, but it was important to him so we are including them. I don`t feel it is ridiculous. People who know us, know the dogs too!! Most think it is great, others think it may be a hassle, but then again, it isn`t their wedding. So to each their own and I think it is great if someone wants to include their pet in the wedding. It isn`t the "norm" but oh well, I feel normal is boring. I am not telling anyone not to do the normal thing, that is my personal opinion.
Take care and best wishes.

I am having my english bullie in my wedding party also. But to help make this work. Obedience train them so they listen and aren`t jumping all over you (in your beautiful) outfit/dress or the guests either. I love most dogs but still don`t want them jumping on me. Obedience also helps so they listen to you :) Another thing that I would suggest is to take them to public places with people milling/walking about so they get used to having alot of people being around them. I`m (only) THINKING of getting my dog to pull my daughter down the isle in a wagon. The biggest problem that I will have is that my dog although loves everyone is that she only likes to walk besides me..LoL So I"m still trying to figure out how to get her to walk down the isle IN FRONT of me. Remeber to always have water around for your dog too, as they will become excited for the vibes off you and just being in a different situation will make them a little stressed and will need to keep cool. One calming trick is to take the edges of their ears and pull on them SLOWLY and gently. Smooth slow strokes down the back and body might also work. Soothing voice singing a familiar song works too. Don`t laugh..I was taught this at a behaviour seminar (for dogs) and tried it and it works. I hope this helps..if you have any other questions that I might be able to help you with let me know and I will give you my email. GOOD LUCK & CONGRATULATIONS!!

Thanks everyone that`s been responding. It`s good to get feedback. Thank you for suggesting the web site, I`m going to go check it out now and thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate everyones comments. I have a lab, he`s only a couple months old right now, but he will be full grown by the wedding.

I am also thinking of having my Bullmastiff in my wedding. She will walk on her own since she is extremely well behaved. I think it is a lovely idea and it is your day so embrace it! My puppy is only 2 and a half and has cancer. I think this will be a wonderful way to always keep her memory with us.
