Hi Sally:
Here is how I measured the dress. I laid it flat and measured from seam to seam on the front. The largest part of the bust measured 16.5 inches. The smallest part of the waist measured 14.25 inches. The widest part of the hips measured 18.75 inches. As far as US size eight goes - it seems a tad bit roomier. The fabric is rouched and looks best when pulled as tight as possible around the waist area. If we had kept it I probably would have had it taken in about 2 to 2.5 inches in the body. Hope this helps.
