Need Serious Help Please!

Hello All!!
I`m thinking about renting a cottage or something similar for out of town guest to stay since we live in Florida but both our families live in other states. Im thinking about a week long rental that way guest could also vacation while in the Sun Shine state. There are even a few on the beach...that way I could hold the wedding right there, so im thinking about paying for most of it...leaving like 100.00 each couple for the enitre weeks stay.

My probem is how do I let people know this option is available? I would need to know how many are really going to come down so that I know what size I need.

We have not announced the engagement yet....do we ask the lodging question in the announcement? And how far in advance should we do this?

This is the second marriage for both of us..first time was a quicky court house one for us both..so we really would like this to be special with family attending.

Thanks so much
Pam

You could do "save the date cards" The post cards you send out way ahead of time to out of state guest to make them aware so they can arrange travel. Ask them the lodging question in that card. Most invitation catalogs have those post cards in them.

Im not even sure how to start it out...If you plan to attend and would like to stay with us at xxxxx please let me now?? jeez Im so lost!!! If anyone has suggestions on how to word this, please share, also do i ask for an rsvp by a certain date and the cost of it? If I do ask for an rsvp how far in advance so i ask for out of state guests?

I had guests stay in a hotel for my wedding, but I guess that it is basically the same concept. The way that my husband and I worked it was by sending sort of newsletters. The said something to the affect of : Thanks for being a part of our special day. In concern for everyone`s convenience, we will be purchasing rooms at xxx hotel. (IN your case you may want to say the amount that you are paying and the amount that they would be responsible. If you are not interested check the box below. If you are interested, take time to fill out the information below. We made it kind of like a questionaire.
How many nights will you be staying?
How many people in your family/party will be staying?
Etc.
Then we just enclosed self addressed stamped envelopes. Then they have no excuse not to send it back. I suggest sending these out about two weeks after the engagement announcement. Don`t be afraid to add a date that the forms must be returned by. Some people need to be given a deadline.
