Age Of Ring Bearer??

I am struggling with setting an age limit for a ring bearer in our wedding. A young cousin of my fiances would love to be in the wedding (as his little sister will be a flower girl) and he would be a ring beaer. But, at the time of the wedding he will be 11-12 years old. Is this too old for a ring bearer????? Please help!

HI!
I had the same issue.....our ring bearer is 11 and our flower girl is also 11 but they were really our only choice for younger children in the family...I think that the age is fine now after talking to various people about it.....to not make them feel like babies, we just call them the miniature bride/miniature groom......she will just hold a small version of my bouquet and the boy will still hole the ring bearer pillow but will escourt her down the isle....at least you wont have to worry about them chickening out in front of a crowd or behaving for the pictures.........that should work out good for you, he is defanitely not too old....good luck!! If he wants to do it then he isn`t too old. If he thinks it`s too babyish for him then make him a junior groomsman or have him pass out programs. But if he`s excited about being a ring barer then you should go with it!!!!

Candy, I don`t think 11 is too old at all - if he`s willing to do it and you and the groom want him to - then you`re good to go. I like the idea of calling them Junior Bridesmaids and Junior Groomsman.

I don`t feel there is really an age limit for people in the wedding party - it`s all what the bride and groom want on their day and who they want to include.

Good Luck!
