Invitation Vs Post Ceremony Announcement

Due to a non-existent budget, I was planning to exchange my vows during my church`s annual Thanksgiving day 10am service with no reception. Generally everyone is rushing home to complete their holiday meal etc., so I`m leary of planning for a cake & coffee event. This in mind, I thought about inviting local friends & family but sending an announcement to out-of-town family and friends. Is this okay?
