What UNIQUE RECEPTION Things Did You Do?
Did you do anything unique or interesting at your wedding reception that made it memorable? For instance, something that the guests were asked to do that you have for a cherished keepsake??
Thanks for any help....

Hi! This isn`t exactly a "what did you have them do" as much as a memory maker, which sounds like maybe what you`re after. I know of a unique favor that is a conversation starter and it becomes a special keepsake for guests as well. Even more so for family members. Let me know if you want specific info at ddnj@juno.com. If you let me know your theme and even colors, it could get more specific! Good luck!

I have been trying to think of UNIQUE ideas also!! We are on the same wavelength! Here are a few ideas that I have thought of:
1.) Have a wish/advice cup near the guestbook. Have a big beautiful jar or glass and pretty pieces of paper next to it, and as guests sign the guestbook and trickle into your reception they can also write you a little note or piece of advice for you to read after your wedding. I think it would be a nice keepsake for after your wedding and a nice way to capture the moment and wisdom of the guests. I am going to take all of the pieces of paper and make them into a scrapbook (or album) to treasure.
2.) Auction off the Centerpieces. I am thinking about making my own centerpieces or at least putting some effort into them. Then, at the reception I will either give them away to special or honored guests or auction them off. Take a few minutes and have a little fun, ask the DJ or a groomsmen/bridesmaid to the auctioning. If you choose to auction them this could take the place of the old tradition of the "dollar dance" and it would bring some fun to the reception.
3.) Have a "marriage dance". I am going to have a special dance where we ask all married couples to come to the dance floor. Then, as the song plays on we will begin to ask couples to leave based on how long they have been married. The last couple on the dance floor will be the couple married for the longest time. This really takes a moment to honor the committment of marriage and the special couple. Maybe you could have a little special gift fot the "winners". This is also a fun way to get the guests involved and doing someting.
Hope I helped you with ideas at least a little bit. Please post other great UNIQUE ideas!!!!!!!!!!

At my wedding I am going to have squares of fabric that guests can write messages on with permanent pens. Then, after the wedding I will make a wedding quilt.
Good luck!

This is not so much a "what they did for me" thing but I did this at mine.
I had a several huge frames with many pictures of the groom and me. One had pictures of us dating and one had pictures of us as children. I ntoiced the guests enjoyed looking at them.
Another idea is to maybe have a friend go around with a video camera and ask guests to say a few words for the happy couple. Maybe have an area set up where they can go sit down in front of the camera and say it. This will be treasured as the years go by.
