BUYER BEWARE OF THE WEDDING PLANTATION

On February 28th my fiance and I went to buy a wedding dress at "A Wedding Plantation, 3900 Noe-Bixby Road, Columbus, OH 43232. We picked out a dress from one of their magazines but I couldn`t try it on as they didn`t have my size in stock. They said that we would have to order it. And before we could order it, we would have to pay for it in full. So we did. Stupid us. They promised that the dress would arrive May 15th. When May 15 came and went, I called to see where my dress was. They told me that it wouldn`t arrive there until June 15th. By June 28 I still didn`t have the dress. So on June 30th I went there to find out what happened. Now they say the dress won`t be shipped until July 21st. They have changed the delivery date three times. My wedding is Sept. 27. Because of this, I can`t get alterations done as the owner said it would take another 3 months if I needed alterations done to the dress. I asked for a refund and they won`t do it because the dress had to be orderd as most of their dress do. They sell the dress there but don`t carry it in their stock for you to see or try on. So you have no choice but to order it. And because it has to be ordered, they WON`T give you a refund for any reason. Not even for being delivered late. It shouldn`t take 5 months to get a wedding dress. Another customer there won`t get her dress until a week before her wedding. She asked for a refund and I heard the owner say she can`t get a refund either. They said we were stuck with the dress.
DON`T BUY FROM THE WEDDING PLANTATION, unless you want more mental stress and worries. Like you don`t have enough worry just planning out the wedding.

Thanks for posting this information. I am newly engaged and trying to decide where to look for a dress. It`s good to have this sort of info when narrowing down the search, so I really appreciate it. I`m sorry the experience was so nasty for you!!

Mary,
Yes don`t go to Wedding Plantation. We took it to 6 On Your Side and pretty much didn`t get anywhere. Wedding Plantation then lied and told 6 On Your Side that they would alter my dress for free and do it within a few days. When we finally got the dress September 15th and I went back to have it altered. They said it would cost $150 to have my dress altered since it had 3 layers. $50 per layer. I reminded them that they told me and 6 On Your Side that they would alter my dress for free. They immediately came up with amnesia and said they never told me that as they have a lady that does the alterations and she`s not paid by the Wedding Plantation, she gets paid by what is charged for the alterations. And she said it would still take 3 months and not a few days. They are liar`s.

I will say we took the dress and my husband`s suit to Sonny`s Tailor Shop at 155 S. Hamilton Rd. In Whitehall and Sonny altered his suit and my dress for $50 for both of them and we had them back in 3 days. I was very impressed with Sonny`s. He did a wonderful job with my dress and my husband`s suit.

That is a shame! I am newly engaged and live close to The Wedding Plantation so I wanted to shop there. I am soooo sorry that has happened to you but thank you for informing us of this incident.

Jaime,

Your welcome. Just be careful when picking out a dress. Ask the store before you buy, how long will it take to get my dress if I have to order it. Find out if they will guarantee it will be there and if not will they refund 100% of your money. Also ask the store before you purchase what is their return policy if you have to order a dress and it doesn`t fit. If they say your stuck with it, I would run out the door and don`t look back. Wedding Plantation`s policy is if you order it from their catalog and it doesn`t fit when it finally comes in, you are stuck with it as they won`t give you a refund.
Congratulations on your engagement. Good luck in the dress hunting. I wish you and the soon to be groom many many years of happiness.
