Dress Is Too Long

I just received my dress in the mail. My budget is very small, so I ordered my dress online. I am very happy w/the dress and the fit, but it is too long. I am wonderiing how long is too long, and is there a way to clip it up or something during the reception.

If your skirt is a more full ball gown or fuller A line skirt, you can shorten it by buying a crinoline to go under it and pouf it out a bit...IF it`s not too many inches too long. Gown trains can be bustled up in back, but `pinning up` the skirt around front because it`s too long will likely not look good. I would recommend simply finding a seamstress by asking at fabric shops, or dry cleaners who do alterations or even a local bridal shop...and get an opinion of how much it would cost to simply hem it up around the front if it`s more than say 3 inches too long. By the time you spent money on crinoline to pouf it out...which can be as much as $75 in some places...you might as well put the cost into having it hemmed. If you have pictures you could send me of the dress, I might be able to advise better. My email is joanne@laceandpromises.com. JoAnne
