2nd Marriage For Both Of Us
Well, this marriage will be the 2nd one for both my fiancee and me. The first one for each of us was held in the courthouse and there was just no magic to it. A wedding to me is supposed to be a wonderful, romantic experience. I want to make this one so much better than the last. It`s going to be small (like less than 100), but I really have no idea on how to plan one of these things. I`ve read magazines, searched the net, but everytime I sit down to try and figure it out, I get lost. My budget is extremely small, but I want to be able to have the wedding of my dreams. Nothing too fancy. My dress, as well as bridesmaid dresses and wedding cake are going to be made by my mother. I`m not sure about flowers yet... Any ideas? I wanted calla lillies, but aren`t they expensive. Might just settle for carnations... We were both born in January, so it`s our birth flower.
The wedding is set for May 15,2004, in the afternoon... I`ve chosen Ivory and Wine as the colors. Is that too dark. My bridesmaids complextions really wouldn`t go too well with pastel colors. I wasn`t sure if such a dark color would be ok on a spring day. I haven`t even figured out where to have it yet. Don`t want a church wedding, too many conflicting religions between families. Any ideas?
Well, this is getting to be rather long isn`t it? Any help you can give would be wonderful!

Thank you! I`ve been trying to work on more of my wedding plans... But I keep getting stuck. I still can`t figure out where I want to have it. An outside wedding would be nice, but I don`t want weather to happen to ruin everything. Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hey!! You sound like me!!!! We have a difference in religion and a tight budget!!! Some things I might suggest for the ceremony is at a mansion, a Metropark, a city gazebo, a historical place in your town, at your own house or a relatives. Some banquet halls will provide a place within for the ceremony and then the reception right after.
As far as the flowers, some craft stores sell VERY real looking silk flowers, and it`s much cheaper!! Then maybe just wrap the stems with a contrasting color OR the same color as the girls gowns.
And no, I don`t think your color is too dark. It`s your wedding!!! Enjoy it!! Marianne

I am getting married for the second time in August 2004. I am going to have my son as my ringbear and my daughter as my flowergirl. They will be in the vows as well as marrying my future husband. I also got married at the court house my first wedding with no one there but my son. Anyway, the first thing I did was buy a wedding planner book. It has been very helpful. It tells you how much things should cost as well as when you should be doing things for your wedding. My colors are silver and burgandy. The two wedding planners I bought for this wedding are a keepsake as well as a planner. The names of the planners are: Planning A Wedding to Remember, by Beverly Clark. In this book it also gives unique ideas that you can use. The other one that I bought is called: Easy Wedding Planner Organizer and Keepsake. I got this one at Wal-mart in the craft section and it cost $29.95.
I hope that this message will help you.

We have the same wedding date picked out (May 15, 2004)! Congrats!
Just a thought.....if you feel that the colors that you have chosen are too dark for the season, you can always throw in lighter shades of wine throughout the wedding and reception. For example, your bridesmaids may wear wine, but then carry some flowers with various hues of wine. And if you are doing the wedding / reception outside, then the ivy will blend in really well anyways.
If you still havent found a dress, you may want to look at weddingexpressions.com. I found my dress there for much less than anywhere else. They are offering free shipping, a garment bag, and an emergency wedding kit (all for free) with the purchase of a gown.
We are getting married and having our reception outside at a bed and breakfast. We were offered a really great package, because we also booked a room for our honeymoon.
Good luck!

If you`re flexible on timing, you would save a TON of money if you get married prior to May (or prior to Easter if you`re familiar with the day) or after Labor Day. Skipping the prime summer months saves so much money. I had a gorgeous wedding for under $10,000 by having it the weekend before Easter.

Just an opinion here.. If you have wine dresses DO NOT carry different colors of wine flowers. Anytime you have a dark color dress you need to carry light colored flowers. If you do carry the dark colors and wear dark they all blend together and in pictures it is very hard to see the flowers. I just went to a wedding where the bridesmaid wore steel blue dresses and had steel blue flowers and in the pics they did not turn out. You can however if you (the bride) wear white or ivory could carry the different colored wine flowers, that would look great!
