Dollar stores are great for candles, party favors, napkins, etc. My son was married in May and I bought several floating candles (red and white). You can make confetti, get your wedding colors in paper and use a hole puncher and place them at the tables. Artificle flowers (silk) are nice. Craft stores are always having sales and they have beautiful things there. Your guests are there for you, remember that!
Sausage balls are good, cheese trays, buy your own ham turkey, cheese etc and make up trays. Seems most weddings I attend, the people are more interested in talking! Snacks are great, gives everyone more time to visit!

Enjoy you planning and enjoy the wedding!!!

P.S. During my sons wedding, the Priest mentioned that my son is the Grandson of "the late Sam Jones" (not real name) and his bride is the Grandaughter of the "late Jane Smith). Everyone there thought that was a wonderful touch. In doing that, the Priest mentioned any Gandmas, etc that WERE there attending. We also got pictures of my son, his wife when they were growing up, you could find pictures of her in some!
AND make up a program, listing you and your groom, parents, bridesmaids, etc. And adding those deceased in it!
More on decorating, check the internet for "Teacher sites", there`s many free things to copy, also maybe you can borrow small bowls from your church or someone for the floating candles. Make lables off the computer "Thank you for sharing in our special day" punch one hole in it, get some ribbon, net type material and wrap it around a small gift, check out those dollar stores! Potpourri would be nice to wrap!
I make a great homemade pound cake and made my son`s Grooms cake, everyone loved it.I used a cake pan in the shape of a baseball player!
I wish you luck and good things and would be interesed in how things turned out!!

At our daughter`s wedding we used deceased grandmother`s hankies as table centerpiece accessory. They were used under the flower vases on each table during the reception. On the four corners of the hankies we put small votive candles. Beautiful!
