Berkeley Hotel Asbury Park New Jersey

Has anyone heard any bad/good things about the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park NJ? I am supposed to get married there next year. I put down the deposit and then went back a few weeks later to have a look and I was somewhat disappointed. They are finishing up a renovation - but still looks like things need to be taken care of - dead landscaping - broken hotel windows, dirty kitchen. I approached the event manager about this and was somewhat blow off. I don`t want to seem like I am being petty - but does anyone else think this is a bad sign??? I am willing to back out even with the deposit.

I had my 800 person engagement party at the berkeley hotel and had a wonderful time. The event manager Sheryl was wonderful and so was the front desk staff. My guest loved the gueast rooms and did not have the time to read trip advisor reviews, so everything went smooth, thank God. I admire the historic Berkeley and am going there for this holiday weekend.

I had my wedding at the Berkeley Hotel last weekend and I wanted to give everyone an honest "heads up" to how everything went. I had a wonderful time and I did not have any problems at all. I had my wedding in the Crystal Ballroom and my ceremony on the beach. The wonderful event manager helped out with my ceremony when my caterer wasnt around and really worked hard so me and my now "husband" were happy! I was very dissapointed to see and hear some bad information on this site that almost made me back out of my own wedding. I am very thrilled and I can look back with fond memories and great pictures! I would 100% send my engaged friends to the Berkeley.

I am a future bride and my date will be early 2010. I am very uncomfortable reading these posts because everything seems very exaggerated and very nasty. I am a bride comming onto this site to get wedding information, and not to agrue like some of you. Who has time for this when there trying to plan a wedding? I did book the berkeley and I have been 100% happy with everything even there staff. I promise to all those who want correct information that I will write a post when my wedding is over. Please forum writers, stop making future brides nervous and very upset for no reason! I doubt you would want your son or daughter upset before there big day! Get a life!

Sandra, we booked an event at the hotel. I have noticed similar issues with the event coordinator...totally unhelpful, issues with hotel rates, completely unwilling to work on contract terms, etc...in the end, was the wedding part ok? if so, ill just have to stay on top of the coordinator and GM to MAKE sure everything turns out OK...thanks for the input!
