Is It Okay To Wear White Shoes To A Wedding?

I`m going to my boyfriends cousins wedding next week and bought a beautiful brown dress to wear. I was thinking of either silver or white shoes to go with it. Is white even acceptable to have white if it`s just shoes and maybe a purse? Or does anyone suggest a different color shoe?
