I Need Help With My Winter Wonderland Wedding
I am planning a wedding for this January, and I CANNOT find an invitation that is actually something that I absolutly LOVE! The colors for the wedding are plum and platinum. ABSOLUTLY no blue....and having nothing to do with Christmas. Mainly a snowflake theme more than anything. It is in the evening and I know that I want lots of candles and lights. Possibly fake trees made of willow branches....but other than that....I have NO clue what else to do!!! I am running out of time! HELP!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my "PLEA!" I have seen the one that you are talking about...and it (SO FAR) is the ONLY remote possibility! But, I don`t "LOVE" it....ya know! I want something that I would show off to everyone like it`s the greatest thing ever invented. Do I really HAVE to have just an "okay" invite....or are there really some BEAUTIFUL invites out there that I am just missing!?!?!?!?! But, yes....and thank you....the snowflake design is SUITABLE for my wedding!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Hey, my brother had his wedding in Feb. And what we did was beautiful. We took small, plain trees from our property and painted them white. We then put them in white bakery buckets and filled them with sand- rocks can also be used. They didn`t have any leaves on them and make sure they are dry- put them in the garage. We also sprinkled glitter on them. We then put a strand of white corded clear lights on them.
We also got a small wooded bridge painted white and put it where people would enter the reception, and hung ice cicle lights from it. On each side of the bridge we placed 2 1/2 foot mirrors and put fake snow and glitter around the bridge and mirrors. On the mirrors we placed glass swans that made heart shapes.
We also put the snow at the bridal table with lights- using white corded lights.
We also hung clear ice cicle lights from the ceiling, gathering strands to the center of the room. Everything was a winter wonderland! Beautiful!
If you want to see pictures, email me and I`ll ask my brother to email you. I hope I gave you some ideas.

You might want to try locating a pattern for Snowflakes & then making your own either out of Cardboard or Wood than you could paint them to match Your colors. You could also locate a stencil with Snowflakes & use it for your centerpieces on Either Votives or Ivy Bowls.
Hope This helps

Hi there.
Take a look at Maggie Sottero "chantelle" dress. You might like that it. It`s a strapless gown trimmed in pewter lace and swarovski crystals. The color of the dress is ivory. It would look beautiful for a winter wedding. The dress is brand new with all tags. This was my pick for a wedding unfortunately I never got married. I`ll send a picture upon request. I have the same theme - Snowflakes for my after chrismas wedding. Im having a hard time finding snowflake invitations as well. I dont want anything to look too informal. Im thinking of getting an invitation with a silver border around it (found it at rexcraft website) and taking it to a printer to customize it. Maybe putting a vellum overlay/jacket with a foil snowflake. Im not too sure yet. But maybe u can find an invitation u like and take it to a printer. My colors are blue and silver, and Im getting my candles from oriental trading company and buying the jeweled snowflakes to toss on the tables- maybe u an check that site of shindiz (sp?) for some silver snowflake candles. Let me know what u find on the net and Ill keep u posted too.

For snowflake invites check out the following sites...I found them myself after a few days of endless searching: papermint.com funnybuggy.com invitationsoflove.com
You may have to look under `holiday themed` on one of the sites, but they are nice - more elegant than most of the other designs I`ve seen...hope it helps!

I am having the same problem with invitations. I know what I want but haven`t been able to find them so will probably go with something white and simple. (sigh) I am renting the white trees with white lights from Grand Rental Station and a snow machine. I`m trying to find a photo of the white trees to show to someone helping me but haven`t been able to...any suggestions?
Good Luck!

Hi, I read your message posted whle looking for a homecoming dress for our homecoming which theme is Winter Wonderland also. I just wanted to let you know about an idea i had. My older sister owns and runs a balloon business. It so neat to see all they can do with balloons these days! HAve you checked into those types of decorations? A white balloon canvice like they put together would be wonderful for your reception. And the bride and groom thing they do would add a cute touch. Have you thought of looking into those types od things? You may want to. Anyways, just trying to help...

I`ve replied once about decorations, then read through some of the other replies. I was just wondering, if you all know or have a good picture in your head of what you want your invatations to look like, why don`t you make them yourself? There are lots of kits for the computer out there, that make it very simple and you can create exactly what you want so that you truely love your invatations and are happy with the outcome.

Have you thought about using a carstock invite and going to the craft store and getting a large snowflake stamp. You could stamp the cardstock in Plum and then print the invite on top, or if you wanted it to be dressier you could print the invite on vellum and tie it to the stamped cardstock with a pretty ribbon. Also, look on line and on ebay for after xmas sales on white snowflake ornaments to hang from the ceiling or in the trees I have done several of these all white winter trees for clients and they are simple, elegant and affordable. Feel free to email me if you would like anymore specific ideas-maybe I can help-let me know( jenifer@mchsi.com)-Jen:)

I am having a Winter Wedding too! In December of 2004 but we are not having ANY red at all. Our colors are silver, white, and the entire spectrum of blues. My fiance is piecing together branches into arches that we are going to drape white lights over as well as a little tulle and garland. Also we are going to have fake trees in planters that will be frosted with fake snow. White lights will be strung in them as well. This will surround the dance floor of the banquet hall until after the cermony then the trees and arches will be moved to the side. We have also purchased "curtain" lights to drap on the walls. For additional lighting we will disburse hallogen lamps available at any Walmart and paint them with the "stone" finish. Our cermony is Medieval themed with costumes and our reception focuses on the "Winter Fantasy" part of our theme. I have many more ideas if you are interested give me a call or email me.
I have an advice line for those simple questions. I also work as a Bridal Consultant/Designer. As opposed to a florist which I have a part-time job doing. I am trying to get into the more decorating portion of weddings, that is the most fun. I am using very little flowers, which are silk multi-colored blue poinsettias. Most of which I found at 75% off after the holidays.

I too am getting married on Dec 4th and would love to see the photos. I`m curious....those of you who have hung the white lights from the ceiling...how did you attach them? What did you do with the extension cords?
Thanks

When we hung the lights from the ceiling, we put them together using plastic wire ties. We put the wire tie with the wire from the lights through the strip on a suspended ceiling. I you want pictures of them hung, you can email me at tralea75@msn.com, and I`ll send them to you.

I`m getting married Dec 11. Here are some ideas that I`ve stumbled upon. For the bouquet I am having silk cala lillies with a winter twist. I will have the rims of the flowers dipped in sparkles, and I am going to rip the stamins out (yellow thing in middle of lilly) and replace it will with a crystal beaded replica. As well my flower girl will throw white rose petals that are lightly sparkled. I have twelve huge irredescent icicles that I will hanging from all that ceiling tulle. I will be making candle holders out of ice with silver snowflake in it to line the entrance to the reception hall. That`s all I can think of right now. Enjoy
