Need Wedding Vendors On October 25, 2008?

Need wedding vendors on October 25th, 2008? Take mine!

Catering by Signature Catering- Depends on your choice of food- mine was around $45/person (all inclusive)
Westminster Reception Hall - $1600 (4 hour reception)
Peabody Ragtime Ensamble - $4600
Loyola College Alumni Chapel - $300 (3:30 pm ceremony)

These services were secured for a wedding that was to be held on October 25, 2008. Since booking them, my father was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and consequently, my fiancé and I have been forced to cancel the reception in order to move out of state to be near my parents and to assist them financially with the medical bills.

We have spoken with the respective vendors listed above and if we are able to find someone that can take over any of our contracted services, we will be able to recover some/all of our deposits. So if you are looking for the type of services listed above, you not only get to work with some wonderful businesses but also assist a young couple in great need. You’ll pay the vendors directly- no money comes from you to me- we would simply get our deposits back after you send them your deposits. It’s win-win-win!

Please know that you do not have to take ALL the services listed above, but you would need to use them on the original date scheduled (October 25, 2008). We know it’s a long shot but our family situation is extremely difficult right now and any monies we can recover will be a huge support to my parents.

Details of the services are as follows:

THE RECEPTION
Westminster Hall
Http://www.w*****all.org/
Guest Capacity: Up to 250 guests for a seated dinner and dancing.
Cost: $1600/four hours
Location: Downtown Baltimore (Fayette and Greene Streets)
Catering: Off of their list of approved Caterers. (It’s a big list though.)
ONE WEDDING A DAY!!!!!
Westminster Hall is a great historic location with lots of local ambiance and charm. It used to be a church, so they have a huge pipe organ and beautiful stained glass windows. (I have lots of pics, if you’d like to see them) It’s the burial place of Edgar Allen Poe, which we thought would be a fantastically BALTIMORE-ish place to have a reception. They have tours of the grounds and catacombs (something for your guests to do during the cocktail hour if you so desire), and I’ve already arranged to have the docent guide the small groups. You don’t have to participate in that though, if that’s not your thing.
You can do your ceremony there too (we opted not to, but I’ve seen them convert it all very quickly, its nicely done.) You would hardly need any decorations at all, because the location is so beautiful already. You do have to use one of their caterers, but the list is the largest I saw for anyplace in Baltimore… something like 30 different caterers. Their website does not do it justice, but feel free to check it out:

CATERING
I chose Signature Catering. They will go with you to a location of your choice. They are a small, independently owned business, who have been doing this for generations. They were going to supply everything for the event, (tables, linens, all eating utensils, and of course food and non-alcoholic beverages- we were going to supply our own) for 150 people for about $45/pp. We had arranged a cocktail style reception, but they’re willing to work with what you want- sit down, buffet, dessert bar only… literally anything you want. I liked that they were very flexible with my needs, and that they allowed us to bring in our own alcohol, which was going to save us a lot of money, but still let us know how much they would have ordered if they were ordering for my guests.

THE BAND
The Peabody Ragtime Ensamble

Again, another Baltimore legend. They are a 5 piece jazz band who will also emcee your wedding (Westminster Hall even has a real piano they can use to really class it up), they’ll all dress in tuxes, and like every other aspect of this wedding, have been doing it for generations. They seem to love what they do, and they have a great website, where you can listen to their music. (My fiance’ really wanted a live band, but to be honest, I wasn’t into it until I listened to their music. They’re great, and I really did know more of the songs that I thought I would.) A very classy way to have people of all ages out on the floor, dancing the night away.

THE CHURCH
Loyola College Alumni Chapel
Http://www.lo****.edu/c****gs
Very beautiful, if you’ve never seen the inside of the Loyola Alumni Chapel, I encourage you to check it out. Very old, stained glass, lots of ambiance. You don’t have to be Catholic to get married there, but if one or more of you is Catholic, you will have to be wed by a priest. You can choose your own though, you don’t have to go through the college to do it. I believe our scheduled time is 3:30pm on Saturday October 25th, and the rehearsal is scheduled for Friday at 6pm. A $300 deposit holds the church, you would still have to pay another $150 each for the Cantor and Organist (who must be a member of Loyola’s ministry) the week of the wedding. (I think there may be rules about being affiliated with the school in some way as well… but I can look more into that for you.)

If you have ANY questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email (al****d@gmail.com). We need the help, and we’re hoping you can use all of these BIG wedding plans for the day.
