What Are People Doing For NYLONS?

You brought up some good points, I really don`t know, so I am replying to bump this back up to the top to see if anyone has any suggestions. I was thinking I`d wear skintone pantyhose, but not sure if shoe is open-toed.. Though I would be uncomfortable without pantyhose! Especially during the garter thingy!

Hanes has a line of panty house that are for open toed shoes, I think this is a good option whether they are open toed or not....and they`re really silky and feel nice next to your skin.

Ok........I figured out what I am going to do...kind of....
I was talking with my mom more about it and she suggested to wear the natural color not white.....and that I should get close toed shoes because they are more formal.....nothing against strappy ones because i think it all depends on the type of wedding you are having.
And they sell the one that go up to your thighs and stay there without having to wear a garter. They just must be tighter on top to stay up. I do like the garter idea but you also have to think about it being easier without it when you have to use the bathroom....haha. Good thinking....Well, hope to still hear other peoples thoughts!!! I came to the same conclusion though I am going with pantyhose. I bought my shoes today.....closed toe!

How are you doing, I haven`t been in touch lately, things have been pretty hectic my way. My mom has been in the hospital and I haven`t had alot of time to myself lately. My option on the pantyhose is I think that in Sept. It`s going to still be pretty warm and I think the hose will make me miserable. I have the big dress with all the crinoline and I will probably be hot enought from the dress that I don`t want to put myself throught any more torture. I think that I might wear strappy shoes too, so that also makes a difference.

How are the rest of your plans coming along?

I am skipping the nylons, just tan legs and a great pedicure. But my shoes are open toe and the wedding & reception are outside.

With closed toe shoes you are safe to wear nylons - any colour- but I do feel that open toed shoes and nylons are very tacky....especially being the bride.

I was thinking about all roses, (white,mauve, and the purple to match the bm dresses, in my bouquet)( and for the bm`s just the mauve and purple, leave out the white) what do you think?? and what are you doing. I have gone back and forth about this- I am getting a great corset, one that comes down over the hips to create a very smooth line (shorter ones can make you bunch right where you need as mooth line with your dress, causing a gap between corset and underwear). But, the corset has garters. I think it will be so cute and make the night extra exciting to wear nylons, or pantyhose, but what to do if the shoes I picked ARE strappy?? What`s a wedding gown without exciting underwear (yet comfy) underneath? And I`m just not so formal a person as to go with closed toe. Any suggestions?

Wear the pantyhose and pick the strappy shoes. The myth that says you can`t do this is going out the window. Calvin Klein even had some of his models wearing black stappy heels with black hose. Most men prefer the strappy shoe and the hose. Even if some of the quote fashion people wouldn`t agree, you`ll feel sexier and your man will definately appreciate you for it and isn`t it about the two of you anyway?

Silly girls, look almost anywhere. They make nylons/pantyhose that are open toe at the end, specifically for strappy sandles. So you can get the best of both worlds. Only one catch, you do have to pay attention to where your top sandle strap crosses over, make sure the area is covered where the nylon ends and your open foot begins. I bought them for a wedding last May, I loved them. Good Luck!!

Hi girls one of u mentioned a corsett w/ garter straps. Is it a nice tight fit w/ support? where did u get it? are they a lot of money? thanks stacy

Stacy- Believe it or not, Frederick`s of hollywood has the best corset... It`s white without any cups to it. I bought it with a strapless white bra, so it did start to add up, and other than needing help lacing the back (it`s not that hard once you get used to it). But- it has boning all down it, and when I bought it (across the mall hallway from where I got my dress), I had it on under my clothes, then ran on to try on my dress again... And the fit was miraculous. It smoothed out everything, and the dress glided on.

Two things to remember, never make it so tight you pass out (we`re not in colonial times anymore...) and make sure whatever corset goes down to your hip. The ones that stop at the bellybutton will make you look like you have a spare tire under your dress. If it goes all the way over any tummy pooch it makes you a total hourglass, rather than making anything extra bulge below the corset`s bottom.

I vote no pantyhose. Those things are so uncomfortable if your dress is long, nobody will know the difference. Don`t stress over something that won`t even be seen anyway!!
