Your Engagement Story??????
Hey yall-
I am wondering how everyone got engaged? I love to hear these kind of stories and know that people love to share them!!!
I will start....
My fiance, Adam, and I have been dating for 6 years. We met first during my Freshman year of high school (his Sophomore year of high school). We finally began dating during my Junior year of high school and his Senior year of high school. He asked me to the Homecoming dance that year and we have been together ever since!!! We survived our college years together (even seperated for 4 years by schools) and are now engaged to be married. This past spring break (March, 2003) he proposed to me on a vacation to New York City. We went to the city together for a week long vacation from school, work, and the every day bump and grind of being at home. I was looking the most forward to taking a carriage tour of Central Park and he knew that. So, on our very first night in the city that is what we did. We went out about 9pm and caught the very last carriage tour of the night. We rode around Central Park cuddling under a blanket getting the "down low" on all the famous places in the park and in the city. During this ride, he looked at me, pulled a little black box out of his coat pocket, and under the moonlight in the middle of Central Park asked me to be his wife!!! I was incredibly excited and had been waiting for that day for about 5 years. For the remainder of our vacation he went around with a huge grin on his face telling just about everyone we saw (no exaggeration here!!!) that we had just gotten engaged. He was so enthused that is was just adorable!!! Later that week we were on the Today Show and were interviewed by our favorite weather man Al Roker!!! I got the opportunity to show my ring to my entire family and announce our engagement to the nation!!! We are now in the process of site scouting for our wedding which will be taking place on June 18, 2005. This was definately the most exhillarating time in my life. The one time that I couldn`t stop smiling and welling up with tears of joy and excitment. I wish for everyone in this world the joy and happiness that we share together and for the excitment of a sweet and heartfelt engagment.

We became unoffically engaged in April... A few weeks before Easter. Well we were going to tell his family on easter sunday the happy news. Well then we realize how many people were going to be at his moms house that day.. So we decided to wait, a few days afterwords he told his mom he was planning on asking me, because she has some of his money in her bank account for special occausions or emergancies (bare with the spelling mistakes i do have a learning disabitly) and he told her that i had my heart set on one from walmart for $399.. It was 3 sapphires rotating around 3 diamonds, setted in white gold - i dont like yellow gold. Well she and jimmys Second oldest sister, Jennifer HATED and that it was too cheap (( 400 dollars in my book is NOT cheap!! )) the idea of my engagement ring coming from walmart.. I really dont see what the big deal is. Anyways Jennifer went to a jewelry shop next to her work place and told the owner Jimmys love story (( How he is handicapped and found the love of his life )) and she took a picture of her hand with 10 rings on... She had told jimmy like 10 minutes before that there was on ring that she loved ever since she saw it -- last october! -- now mind you he never saw this ring before, she sent the picture of her hand to Jimmy and his Mom Evelyn, well they both picked out the ring that Jenn liked! - how freaky is that?! lol - anyways Jenn picked it up a few days later ( we seen it on a friday she picked it up on that Tuesday! ) now jimmy didnt get it until Saturday May 3rd right before he was going to purpose to me... It was his younger sisters surpise 21st dinner party (( He has 3 Sisters, Ellen the Oldest, Jennifer, and then Kimberly - hes the 3rd child and the only boy )) - His mother asked him LOUDLY if he was going to purpose today (( BOY if it was supposed to be a surpise she ruined it!!)) - she was on one side of me and he on the other side of me so they were talking through me!! - anyways he was going to purpose right after dinner, but Evelyn wanted him to get it over with so she could make the annoucement to everyone who was there - his 3 sisters, mom , dad, his dads girlfriend, the three sisters S/O`s .. His niece, nephew and two of kimberlys friends. So he and Jennifer went to the back of the resturant so jennifer could give him the ring, well he came back and parked his wheelchair facing me, the ring came in a rose shaped box - which i proudly have on display, anyways after a great dinner of spaghtti, we were congratulated by the live band that was there - and they pronounced my name wrong!! -- next time iam just going to write it HIGH - DEE -- but all in all it was a lovely evening!!
