Outdoor Catholic Wedding

Why is a wedding in a Catholic church so important and so superior to a wedding, say, on the beach or in an old castle, as pleasing as those surroundings may be? Because Catholics believe that the consecrated unleavened bread, called a host, which is kept in the tabernacle of every Catholic Church has really and truly become the actual body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ . That means that Jesus, who is God, is present in person - physically - at a Catholic church wedding as surely as He was present in person - physically -at the biblical wedding at Cana. John 2:1-11. Certainly, Jesus is all-present spiritually also with those who marry outside a Catholic church, provided they enter marriage validly. But, just as we would be more enriched if our departed or distant friends and loved ones could be present in person at our wedding even though they might join us from afar mentally and spiritually, so we are more enriched and blessed when Jesus is physically present at our wedding. Similarly, Cathlics have the great priviledge of receiving baptism and confirmation and making their confession in the physical presence of Jesus, who is God, and who is always present in the tabernacle of every Catholic church. Perhaps this explanation will deepen your appreciation and desire for a wedding inside a Catholic Church. Blessings
