Anchorage Alaska

Anyone know of a good place to have a reception in the anchorage area? I would like to keep it inexpensive, most likely indoors, but I am having trouble finding something simple and classy. There will be approx 100 guests.

Kincaid is one of my considerations. I am going to be married (most likely) at St. Patricks (catholic curch). My fiance went there. The wedding is still a ways away. Our date is set for Sept 4, 2004 (our 4 year together-a-versary).

When I first thought Kincaid I thought it is good because it is cheap, but I don`t know how I would go about decorating. I will probably be putting in a good amount of elbow grease in anyway (funding aren`t huge).

Well, elbow grease is a good way to stay cheap. We were thinking of adding a lot of flowers if we rented Kincaid. Therefore people would look at the tables instead of the walls and the hanging flags. I recently went to a wedding there and it was simply beautiful. It had great views and there is enough room so that guests can explore and stretch their legs. We were hoping to have an evening wedding and have the actual wedding in the glass area and then walk 40 steps to the reception. OR, we love the view from the sundeck (facing the mountains). But it is a year away (June 2004) so there is plenty of time to get all the planning done.

Good Luck!

Let me know if you find any other great places (we relocated to Anchorage in October, do not know many good places for a wedding yet)

Do you have a military ID? There are a few Chalets on base that are cheap ($250 for 12 hours). Just thought I would let you know!

Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me more about the bayshore club? Do they have a website, where are they located? I would love to hear more!

Hello again, I was just thinking about a way I have made my wedding a little cheaper. I went to Party craft and bought these beautiful mountain invitations for a cheap price, buying roses at a few of the flower shops that have them around $12.00 a dozen and putting then into vases I have collected over the years. I bought my dress on eBay.

Hope this may help a little!

Hello again!

I was wondering if you had a photographer picked out yet? I was counting on a friend doing it for me, but things did not work out at all.

The only one that I would be in a place to recommend is Danny Danniels. He is the only one I have heard reviews on. He is very professional, and has been in the photography business for many many years. I have seen his portfolio, and he looks pretty good. Unfortunately, he is rather expensive (for me).

All of you should visit
And go see their directory. There is links to lots of local webpages for everything from party rentals to photographers.

Hi again!

I went to the bridal fair at Bells, I can definatly say it was not too small. I made a lot of progress by going there. I guess they have a fair there a few times a year!

But I am still going to Northway mall this weekend, it was way too fun!

For those of you who haven`t been to an Anchorage show, check it out. There are many vendors that do not advertise, but you will find them here.

It is a really good way to get to know these people before you waste your time...
Some of the vendors were a little snobby when I started asking questions. I just won`t use them. Anybody who is going to be rude to me, or try and overlook me while I am talking to them obviously isn`t a professional.

Others were very helpful...

Overall, worth the time and croud-fighting. I would suggest showing up on the earlier end for the next bridal show.

Also - come on an empty stomach! They feed you! If he is up to it, bring your FH. Mine had a great time, and finally started speaking out about his opinions on the wedding....

They have this habit of acting like "whatever is fine" until you have planned out the entire thing, and then they get ideas on what they want.... =)

I`m having mine at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art and it`s absolutely GORGEOUS!!! They have a lovely atrium as well as a marble staircase that you can make your grand entrance on. The only drawback, is as far as decorating goes, I`m finding that they are VERY strict to what you can do.
