Wedding Announcement

My son and his new wife just married. They have invited 50 friends and immediate family to the Celebration. The bride`s single Mother and I, the groom`s single Mother want to send announcements without the Gift Registry to some of our close friends and family who are not invited to the Celebration. Is that appropriate and how should it read? We don`t want to be asking for gifts. Just informing.
