Gift Registry

What prices are appropriate for items on a gift registry? I don`t want to seem greedy by putting things that cost too much. At the same time I don`t want to put cheap things that I really don`t need. I need opinions please!

Hi there,

I had the same sort of questions. You don`t want to seem greedy, but you don`t want to put stuff on the list that you don`t want either.

I did put quite a few lower priced items on there ($20-$30), so that there could be something for everyone`s price range who is bringing a gift. But the majority is in the $40-$70 range, which is what I would typically spend going to someone`s wedding.

However, there are also two items that are about $200 each. I thought if someone wanted to go in together on something, it would work. If the don`t, well we`ll have to buy those things ourselves, and we`ll do so without crying over it. :) Hopefully no one will be offended by it.

Hope this helps.

They recommend that you put all price ranges on your registry. I`ve seen low price stuff like kitchen gadgets and dishtowels made into beautiful baskets. It lets those who are invited pick and choose. Don`t put anything on their that you don`t want or can`t use just to put it on. But who doesn`t need new kitchen towels or cookie sheets. My best friend got married last year and she had items from a pizza cutter (and then had a pizza stone on it and someone bought her both and added cute pizza piece shaped plates to it ) to $115.00 a 5 piece place setting for china, that her Grandma bought her 5 of and a couple of aunts bought the other 5. They also had a DVD player on there that her sister and husband bought for them and added some of their favorite movies. For girls night out we always meet at this asian restaurant we love and she had a wok on there, so I got her that about $30.00 but then I added a rice steamer, chop sticks, an asian cookbook, tools, asian spices and for fun some fortune cookies! She loved it. I think if you give people a chance they will surprise you. So she probably had a range of things from $7.00 or $8.00 to a couple of hundred dollars and she was thrilled with everything!
When I`m ready to do mine that is what I`m going to do
Hope this helps!
