I bought this dress at a Making Memories event last month. It is an original Vera Wang and has never been worn. It is a ball gown style and has a medium train and off the shoulder bodice. It is a size 10, maybe a street size 6-8?. The original retail for this dress was over $5,000, but I only paid $1,800! I am selling the dress and veil for $1,500.
The gown fits me very poorly because it is too big. I was hoping I could have the dress altered to fit me, but was told by my seamstress that reducing the gown from a size 10 to a 2, although possible, would ruin the lines of the dress. If the gown was the appropriate size, the bodice would fall just above the hips and be very flattering for any body type.
It`s hard to tell from these pictures, but the fabric and shape of this gown are extraordinary. I was told the fabric is an antiqued silk and worth more than the price I paid for the dress. My seamstress also mentioned that the gown could become more A-line by removing a layer or two of the crinoline and the bows could be easily removed as they are only tacked on. You can see from the pictures that the gown has the buttons going down the back as well as an inner zipper.
I`m sorry that after having tried on the gown so many times, it has become wrinkled and it`s difficult to see from the picture how beautiful it is. The gown definitely needs to be dry cleaned, I would do it, but I`m sure it will become even more wrinkled during shipping. Other than that, the gown is in perfect condition.
I will include the matching veil I bought for $400 (also from Making Memories). I don`t have pictures, but it matches the dress perfectly with an antique silk ribbon, which frames the face and accentuates the detail of the dress. I`m not sure of the exact length of the veil, but I believe it is just a bit shorter than fingertip.
I will pack the dress in the Making Memories pink luggage bag and package the veil separately. Please don`t hesitate to email me with any additional questions. Certified shipping for this item is free.
