Help! I Am Eloping!
My Fiance` and I have decided to elope to New Orleans this weekend due to all the stress and money involved in a wedding. I understand that our families will be upset with us when they find out, so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on 1. How to tell them (either with both families together for dinner, or seperatly).
2. Should we have some kind of reception type of dinner later so our extended families and friends can come and celebrate too? We are looking to not spend very much money.
I am not sure if having a "reception dinner" is bad etiquette or not. Someone please help!

Hello amanda ( i like your name hee hee) well, personally, my husband and i almost did the same thing, we were tired of all the stress and fighting with getting things together BUT we felt how hurt are families wold be. So we pulled threw it.
BUT on the other hand this is YOURS AND YOUR FIANCEE`
I would take the parents out or cook them a nice dinner, explan how stress you are and you feel this is the best thing for the both of you. Also you can mention this way you dont have to worry about asking for money for the wedding.
You could have a potluck when you return for a reception or ever on a week later. Or maybe a BBQ ( i dont know where you live) i think something like that is nice.
