Hemming A Dress After It Has Been Bustled???

Is it possible to hem a wedding dress after it has been bustled? It is a regular american bustle, simple one loop.

Mary, You should be able to hem the front and sides of the gown and taper the hem into the train, thus not having to change the bustle at all. I am not a seamstress, though. I`ve just seen this done before with gowns, by seamstresses, when the bride is shorter than average, but doesn`t want the train shortened. Now if you want the train shortened, changing the bustle is a simple matter of moving the loop on the train, such that the bustled train hangs to match the shorter hemline all around. If you google or search using the terms: `bustle a wedding gown` you will find several sites with detailed instructions about how to measure properly when doing a bustle too. JoAnne

Thank you so much that really helps with ideas for how to hem my dress. My mom found a seamstress who does wedding dresses in my area so when I go in I`ll let her know what I want.
