Wedding In Ns
I am from NS and would like to have my wedding here.I am thinking of post-wedding cocktails and light fare like oyster bar or some sort of light seafood served from a yacht or tall ship--guests could wander about on boat, etc. Then reception at an elegant-ish resort. Baddeck at Inverary? Chester? Fiance is Chinese heritage and family would like traditional 12 course Chinese banquet catering and food would have to be authentic and good. Any ideas? We`d have 60ish guests maybe and are thinking July, August or September of next year.

Hi there,
If you`re thinking of a sailing ship, in Halifax you could hire the Mar II. They sail from downtown Halifax and have a bar and snacks onboard (which of course you have to pay for). It holds something like 40 people or so. There are other boats too, such as the Harbour Queen, which holds a lot more people.
A food thought for Halifax is a Chinese restaurant called China Town. They actually have a dock, you can dock your boat there, go to eat, then sail away again. Not being of Chinese origins, I couldn`t tell you how authentic their food is, but it might be worth checking out.
Good luck!

Chinatown is ok but China Classic (Quinpool) is much better and authentic. I doubt very much you will find chinese in Chester or CapeBreton. If you`re in Halifax, check out the Maritime Museum - they rent out. And then there`s always the yacht clubs....

If the cost doesn`t scare you, another cool place to have a reception in Halifax is at Pier 21. The view is beautiful there, and the food is really good too. You have to use their caterer, which is a bit costly, but high-quality.
It was out of my league, but could work for you!
Good luck!
