Parents Renew Vows At Daughters Wedding

My husband and I have been married for 21 years this past November. Due to my husband being deployed in January of 87 we decided to get married quickly with caused us to have a very small wedding at my parents home. We were married by JOP. I wanted a Catholic church wedding/Blessed by a priest. We have been through alot of the past 21 yrs. I survived cancer while caring my daughter. And my husband is struggling through a very serious back injury for the past 15 years. Our daughter is getting married on 4-5-08. Her fiance` is in the Army. My husband ask me a year ago if I would marry him all over again and renew our vows in the church of god by our parish pastor. I said yes and unfortunately his father past away one week before. Also our daughter went through a very terrible experience 3 yrs ago which has brought us closer than ever. So my question is would it be inappropriate for my husband and I to renew our wedding vows after our daughters ceremony with our son and daughter as witnesess.

Thanks, Judy

Hi Judy -
I do not think it will be wrong. I guess there are two views - 1) your child`s wedding is her special day, 2) by renewing your vows on her day can make it extra special.

I would ask her for her thoughts, then make a decision from there.

Whatever you choose, congrats on her wedding and your renewal!
