Indian/Exotic Theme

I am doing a summer wedding in Atlantic City (2009) NJ. I really love the indian theme (decorations on the hands, bangles, lots of vibrant colors!) but I`m trying to mix it for a more elegant, traditional look. I was thinking regular bridesmaid dresses with the henna and bangles, but I`m at a loss for a good mixture of flowers. I`m also on a strict budget!

My colors are brown and dark pink (almost magenta) but hints of bright colors are acceptable -- bright yellow, bright orange, etc. I don`t want it to look like a hurricane of color so brown would be my base, but how would I tie all the vibrant colors in together?

Does anyone have any ways to intermix the traditional and exotic elements I mentioned? And what should I do about the cake, I obviously can`t have a 3 tiered white cake with white roses!
