Mother Of The Groom Dress
I am mother of of groom and just recently purchased a long chiffon dress for wedding. I just found out that mother of bride is wearing a short silk dress. Should I go back and get a short dress. The wedding is formal attire..........Help!!! I love my dress, but if it isnt appropriate I need to take it back. Thanks

Wear what you have chosen. You will look good and feel good!

I think that you should not take the dress back. It sounds as if you have made the right choice, and the fact that you love it means even more. I wore a long crepe dress for my fiance`s daughter`s wedding, her mother wore a long dress and the mother of the groom wore a short dress and we all looked great!

My son is getting married soon and they are asking me to match my dress with the colors of the wedding- lavender and yellow- however, I think I will look awful in both! What color will be a good compromise?

I thought that the mothers should not match. As long as the colors don`t clash- go for it.
As for the lavender/yellow thing- periwinkle or champagne might do- they are will compliment but much kinder to the wearer.

You may have to change as etiquette dictates you wait until the bride`s mother got her dress before buying yours - as per www.oumarriage.com - "It is the bride`s mother who will first select a dress for her daughters wedding. A gown of complimentary color and similar styling is then chosen by the mother of the groom. She must wear long if the bride`s mother wears long or short if she wears short. The color should not match the bridesmaids, nor the brides` mother, but compliment both. "
