Save The Date Cards

We sent out our save the dates 3 months before the wedding. We are really glad we did, as our invitations came in late, so at least people knew when the wedding was and it would not have been such a surprise.

We`ve already sent our`s for a November `03 wedding.We sent them out in mid April. I read you can do it as far as a year early. We wanted ours out early as we`re getting married Thanksgiving weekend and have alot of people coming from out of town. So airline reservations we need to be made over the busiest holiday weekend.

Hi, I actually sent out my "save the date cards" 1 year from the wedding date, but I only sent them out to the people that lived out of state. Everyone around pretty much had the date down, so I didnt think I should send out "pre-invitations". I made them into magnets so people just stuck them on their fridge!

I made ours refrigerator magnets too! Everyone commented on what a great idea it was (actually a friend of mine came up with the idea!) We put our engagement picture on it.

My daughter`s wedding is in Florida in September. I live in New York and she lives in Atlanta, so it`s a destination wedding for everyone. We sent the Save This Date invitation to everyone on our mailing list almost 7 months in advance because everyone will have to travel to the wedding location.

The fun part was that we attached the burnt-edged invites to flip-flops. They were a big hit with the recipients. Each invite had one half of a pair. People started checking with their friends/relatives who were invited to see if they could make up a pair. I actually planned for many of them to match (size, style and color). If I had thought about it in advance, we would have made a thing about people bringing them to the wedding to find their matches as part of the weekend`s fun.

I am getting married 2/12/2010. I have just ordered my save the date magnets and intend to distribute them as soon as they ship back to me! Hopefully, it`ll ge the word out, even if some of the recipients are not invited to the wedding.
