Depo Injection

Hi ! I was on the shot for 1 year, I am not trying to conceive, but, I had similiar issuses as you. I had very bad stomach pains, on my left side. My friend was on the shot for years, then she switched to the pill and right after she stopped that she got pregnant. Have you talked to your doctor yet? I also have had the bleeding, I spotted while I was on the shot and also bled for two weeks straight, with killer cramps. I had no energy for a while after I got off the shot. I take the pill right now and I get pains once and a while. I suggest you try taking vitamins, like C, D , A, E. Or you can take a multi. I have a sensitive stomach,, so I can`t take a multi. There is another depo message board on the web page that you should check out. I just replied to that thread. I have been on Depo for 4 to 5 yrs, and have had weight gain, and all sorts of problems. Sometimes, I have heard that you can get pregnant right away, and others have waited years. Please do not go back on it again.

I had very bad luck with the depo shot. It gave me alot of problems even after I quit taking it. I ended up having to have a total hysterectomy at the age of 24 and I blame it all on the depo shot. I also heard that it makes it harder to concieve after taking the shot for a very long period of time.

I was on the depo for about 4 mnths and have been of for about 5 and and it is horrible me and my partner want to try for a baby but i feel i have no chance as have around three periods a months my gp told me it takes about a year and a half to get back to normal

I have been on the depo for 4 years and it has worked for me. I have no complaints, no side effects, nothing.
It just depends on the person.

I would only suggest not to take any antibiotics while on the pill of expectorants such as robitussin or nyquil.
It reverses your shot and you will get pregnant. If you get pregnant on the shot, you will go through alot of test to see if the baby is okay.

I have taken the Depo shot on and off since Nov of 2000, but I have never gone over 3 months of injections. I would always get the initial one and then after the 3 months were up I wouldnt go get my next one. I got the shot in Feb and was supposed to go get it again in May-but didnt. My fiancee and I want to try to get pregnant so we started trying. I finally got my period in September for 3 days. Then 9 days later I got it again for only 2 days. Still no success on the pregnancy...Im worried that Depo has messed me up for a while. I wish doctors would tell you everything that goes along with this shot or else I never would have gotten it. I have no idea how long it is going to take to concieve. All I can do is pray and hope I get pregnant soon and not a year from now. My advice-Keep trying and never get the shot again!!

I think any one thinking of takeing this should read all the facts first the doctors dont tell u every thing

I have been on depo for 6 years since my son was born. I have put on loads of weight and my appetite also increased. Some days I get a swelling of the stomach and also sharp pains as you say. I am now finishing and the doctor said if your lucky pregnancy can take only up to 6 months, however it can take longer for your body to adjust.

I just decided to go off the depo shot and bled for 2 weeks. My doctor said it`s normal and for me to take 2 ibufrorins, 4 times a day, for 5 days. He said it flushes your system. It worked. He also said even though you have a montly period, it couls still take 18 months for the depo to get out of your system.

I went on the depo for 3 months, i stopped in April so me and my boyfriend could try for a baby. I have had hell since i have stopped,sometimes i bleed for day`s on end, i have really really bad stomache cramps, i had to cancel a holiday my boyfriend prepared for me as the day we were to travel my pains were to bad.It`s now december and we are still trying for a baby, it`s depressing me and worrying me and i son`t know what to do.
I wish the doctors had warned me properly before giving it to me, if they had i would never had gone on it in the first place.

Hi there I was on the depo for about 2 yrs and then decided to try for another baby it took me a year to conceive, but I was warned that it does take a long time when having the inection for the first time. It took at least 6 months fo rmy periods to regulate and then another 6 month of getting the timing right . I have been on depo injection for4 years after havin my daughter who is 4 i have had no problems with the injection however i recently stopped it on october because i missed injection i have still not bled in jan i have now had injection again i think it affects diffrent people in diffrent ways if worried talk 2 doc before havin injection

I was on the depo for 9 mths. After being off the depo for 2 years i`ve finally had my 1st period. My partner and i haven`t used protection during this time but i haven`t been able to concieve. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have been of the dopo for 2yrs 6months and want another baby but as yet no periods. Im feeling very low and the doctor said it is normal not to have a period for 18 months but it has been longer

I am concerned I started the depo in April of 1998 and stopped in September 00 I have been off it for 4 years and still have had no period. I spoted in August of 03 but that only lasted a few hours. I dont know what to do has anyone else every experienced going this long without a period after being on the shot?

My Name is Jessica. I started one of the other Depo message board on here. I got on the depo shot right after having my daughter in May of 2002 since then my life has been complete and utter HELL. I bleed for a year straight. I finally got off the deop shot in July of 2003. Now since the depo shot supposedly stays in your system for 18 months the doctor that I was seeing was trying all different types of birth control pills out on me. Unfortunetly playing guinepig didnt work and I an still bleeding needless to say I have not gained weight, BUT, I am a small person to begin with before my daughter I weighted 115lbs I am now down to 100lbs!!!!! I have not been this small since well before high school years. Also I have a big hormonal imbalance, mild- dysplasia, horrible migranes, lack of appitite and energy.

I now am going to a different Dr and he is advising me that the only way that I can rectify my problem is by getting a IUD called the mairana (?sp might be wrong)

I am still confused and worried. Right now I am not taking anything when I started the depo the doctors told me that there were "mild side effects". I now worry that this Iud will cause some what of the same or other harmful side effects that might cause future problems. Any Ideas on what I should do?

I was on Depo 4 1yr, came off if 25th Sept 2002...just had my 1st period! since comming off the injection me and my partner havent used contraception and i still havent fell pregnant. I gained 3 stone, depression, stomach pain, i`d never advise the injection to any one.. It has took away my confidence with the weight i put on and gave me bad mood swings.

I was on the shot for 3 years and i am trying to get pregnant now its been 3 years since i have tried. I go to the fertiltiy doctor may 2nd.

I was on the depo shot for about 9 months I was supposed to go back in Aug of `03 for another shot but my husband and I decided not to because we wanted to try and concieve and now almost 3 years later I still don`t have regular periods I`ve had maybe 4 or 5 in the last 2 yrs and 9 months and still no luck in the ongoing battle to concieve I wouldn`t reccomnend the shot for anyone who wanted to have kids

I have been taking the depo shot for 12 years. This is my first month to be off of the shot. I am experiencing pregnancy symptoms, however I am not pregnant. My breast have doubled in size and hurt.
