I was also just married in the Bahamas, and am having a post wedding reception at home. I am doing the beach theme for my reception as well. Mine is indoor/outdoor at a local park. So, inside on the tables for centerpieces I am having galvanized pails filled with sand and extremely thin taper candles-apx. 20 per pail. They are all white. It looks really rich. (I had to special order the candles online). The candles are like 15" tall. You can order them in different colors. I found the idea in a bridal magazine. I am only doing this on every other table. The other tables I have hired a company to provide tropical flowers. There are so many ideas to go with. I have tiki torches outside, with small table top tiki torches on the tables outside. Large palm trees on the inside (only 2). I rented them from a local company.

I saw great favors at my local supermarket, in the gumball machines. For $.50! They were minature beach balls. They were constructed just like the big ones but they were about the size of a softball when you blew them up. So cool. You could write names on them and use them for placecards.
How about tin pails for centerpieces, you could punch holes in them and fill the inside with sand and candles.
The light twinkles through the holes.
They sell colored paper lanterns on a light string, fun during the day, romantic at night.

I am also planning a beach themed reception. For centerpieces, I am going to the dollar store and getting little fish bowls, and am then going to the pet store and getting a fighter-fish for each bowl. Then I will have kids take the fish home as a gift from me! Next to the bowls I will have a wine glass on each side that we filled with gel wax with seashells inside.

They have a cute placecard idea on martha`s website. They take a deep tray and fill it with sand, then use drink umbrellas with cards attached to then for place cards. They then place the umbrellas in the sand. It looks like a tiny beach. You girls should go there and check it out. They also have some beach pail centerpiece idea. Good Luck Ladies!! -Sarah

Make sure that all drinks are accompanied by a beach umbrella, and play a lot of jimmy buffet!
