Here is a great center piece. Use 12inch round bowls with sides that curve toward the middle, (almost the shape of a hollow pumpkin with the top cut off), and put shiney, smooth craft rocks in them (some are colored, but I like the clear ones) and then put fancy fish in the bowls. Ie, chinese fighting fish. It looks elegant and wonderful!

I used metal candle holders with daisy shaped cut outs in each side, I used spring colors and made small flower arrangements out of them then hung balloons off of each one. Then I put three votive candles around. They were on round tables and were unique and sweet!

I think she asked for UNIQUE centerpieces. The fishbowl thing with the rocks is so old already. Besides, it never looks elegant and wonderful when a fish dies. People don`t enjoy eating dinner with a dead fish floating in the center of their table.
Christina, what are you wedding colors? What time of year is your wedding? Do you have a special theme at your reception? It might help us to give you ideas if we knew a little more about the type of reception you are having.

I DON`T KNOW IF ANYONE DOES THIS IN YOUR AREA, BUT I HAVE SEEN FRUIT DESIGNS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TABLE. OR WOUNDERFULS. THOSE ARE PRETTY COOL. WOUNDERFULS HAVE A WEBSITE, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS, JUST PUT WONDERFULS IN YOUR SEARCH ENGINE.
HOPE THIS HAS HELPED.
I PERSONALLY LIKE THE IDEA OF THE FISH, BUT SOMEONE SAID IT IS OLD. I DECORATE WEDDINGS AND HAVE NEVER SEEN IT YET!!

You buy clay pots from any gardeing center, nursery, Lowe`s etc.
Next you paint them all white, Then around the rim you draw or paint a floral design. You can draw a different design on each pot.
Finally you can either plant a colorful flower, a plant or make a colorful arrangement. I suggest Tulips

We are saving the clear glass jars from pickles, mayo ect. And etching (kit you can buy at craft store) our monogram on 2 sides of the jar filling them halfway with water and floating 1-3 candles depending on the size of the jar. I know that floating candles are not original, but the effect is much like lightning bugs caught in a jar, perfect for an outdoor wedding. Ours are set in rows down picnic tables, but you could group 3-5 jars on round tables. You could also add food coloring to the water if desired.

Okay, here`s a common theme I`m seeing on this message board- brides being total jerks to one another. For example, the message from what`s-her-name complaining about the fishbowl idea. Take the bug out of your butt, sister! I`ve started using the knot message boards because the brides there are so much more supportive. Very few catfights!

I did this centerpiece for our family reunion ... I took 3 pedestals cut two down so the heights would be staggered. The tallest one was 21" tall. The unique thing was that I wrapped them with dyed jute twine ... I was going for a Hawaiian look ... So I wanted a sort of coconut shell look. Inside I had a variety of fresh exotic flowers (Protea, Orchids, Parakeets) and plenty of Croton and various greens. On top of each pedestal was a votive cup and candle. Inside the square containers there was also sand and shells, etc.
It would be a good centerpiece for a beach themed reception.

I like the idea of having a picture of the bride and groom at every table. A different picture on each table, but all in the same sort of frame. With a few rose petals lying next to it. It`s simple and cute and personal. How could you go wrong?

But then what about the people sitting on the other side of each table? All they will see is the back of a frame. I mean unless you did like really big poster sized ones. Now that would WOW people when they walked into the recpetion!

Well, if U put 2 pictures back to back or do three in a triangular way, then every one gets to see. Besides, people touch the center pieces they`ll probably just pick them up and move them if they want to see

I have some centerpieces that you would be interested in if you would like something different. If you like the picture idea, I have some centerpieces that you could put a picture of the couple and still be able to do a floral arrangement. If interested e-mail me at:

Does anyone know where I could purchase square vases for centerpieces at my wedding? Their are vases I like at Pottery Barn, but they are too expensive!

Hi Jenny,
Have you tried Walmart? I doubt anyone can beat their prices on glass.

Maybe a small cake for each table and just having the serving utensils set nicely next to it and when everyone is done eating the main meal they can just cut it themselves.

Try ablazecandles.com--they are really unique wax candle holders in different sizes that give off a lovely glow when lit. They have angel designs and florals as well as some that look like simple urns. They are hard to describe but check out the site. I saw them at a friends wedding and have been giving them as gifts ever since. Really pretty and different.
