Outside Weding Decorations

I am getting married in two months. I have a very tight budget and don`t know what to do. We want to make the decorations ourselves. We are useing an Arbor and need some ideas on how to decorate 13 tables plus add lighting to the reception since it is the only part that will be at night. I want a real romantic feel but i want it to be laid back and fun.

Ashley,

Can Do Parties has done these types of decorations. You can get glass "fishbowl" type of vases and put sand or sugar (it`s very white) in them, then put a simple votive candle in each one. It`s very romantic.

Hi Ashley and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
For lighting for your reception, will you be using a tent? If so, I would recommend chinese paper lanterns for lighting. You can buy them pretty inexpensively on Ebay. I saw some that are battery operated - you don`t want to monkey around with trying to plug something in! If you don`t like those, you can also get some battery operated mini white lights at Michael`s Craft Store and also Walmart. Again, it`s easier with battery operated lights.

For your tables: You want to make something. Why not get a variety of clear glass jars from people. Baby food jars?, the short fat jars that olives come in? even some pickle jars.......get a variety - maybe 3 different sizes for each table? Go to dollar stores and buy appropriate sized candles to place in each. If you want a little color - you can always buy the vase "gems" sold at dollar stores, or, if you want more...get the bags of stones that go in the bottom of fish tanks. These are small little stones and the whole bag is various colors and is cheap! Put about 1-2" in the bottom (depending on the size of jar) and push the candle into it! Tie the top of the jar with a colored ribbon in your "wedding color"! No one will be the wiser that they are recycled jars! Beautiful, elegant, easy and cheap!!
