Wedding Reception Location In Halifax
I am looking for a great place in Halifax, NS to hold my wedding reception. WE are looking for a casual but beautiful spot where people can relax and enjoy the evening. I require seating for 200 and would prefer being able to hire my own catering service. Any suggestions?

Hi there,
If you want to hire your own caterers, the hotels of course are out. In case you`re wondering, the hotels (at least the ones we looked at) start at about $24 per person and just go up and up and UP!
Is your wedding in the summer or in the cooler season? Outdoors could be the answer. Ours is in September, and our reception will be at the Royal Canadian Legion in the Fairview area. The hall isn`t too expensive, especially if you use their catering - only $100 if you use theirs. But you can use your own caterers too, the price of the hall just goes up (I think) a few hundred dollars. I *think* they can accomodate 200 people, but you`d have to double check.
Hope this helps!

I agree, a Royal Candian Legion Hall is THE best way to if you want an inexpensive wedding reception. My reception is at the one in White`s Lake, NS. You can decorate the hall ANY way you wish,it seats about 250 people(the one I`m using anyway), it`s under $200 to rent for the night (plus you get $100 back if no damage to the hall) AND you can have full use of their kitchen and they will clean up for you after the party is over!! Who could ask for anything better than that??!!

I was wondering if the Whites Lake Legion has their own catering service and if so do you have any idea of the price range?

Yes, as far as I know they do have catering that is done by I`m guessing a lady who belongs to the legion???? I think it is fairly priced(I`m doing my own because my family has offered to care of it all for me)I think it ranges anywhere from 8.95/person to 12.95/ per person. The 12.95 is for a roast turkey dinner. Just drop in some day and ask them. They are very helpful!!!
