Fall/Autumn Barn Wedding

Hi girls,

I need lots of help! i`m planning a wedding in october and i`m looking to combine elegance and country. Unfortunately i have champagne taste and my wallet can`t accommodate all that i want to do. I don`t mind doing all of the leg work on my own. I just need ideas. Again i want to combine autumn country/farm with elegant table settings and centerpieces. Candy corn, pumpkins beautiful colors but without being cheap or cheesy. I need to creat the look of elegance in a real historic barn setting. HELP!

Hi Sherri:

First, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
I LOVE to decorate -- it`s my passion. Here are a few ideas/suggestions for your fall barn wedding centerpieces:

(1) How about cornucopias? You can buy the cornucopia baskets at dollar stores, Walmart, Michaels, etc. Then simply fill them with miniature pumpkins, squash, corn, apples, etc. If you need any "filler" you can always get some fall colored leaves at a craft store like Michaels or at Walmart. If you want some light on the table next to these, why not get small tealight holders in a FALL COLOR. They do make colored glass tealight holders.

(2) If you don`t like the cornucopia idea....here are a number of ideas for uses with candles:

Candle Idea#1: Hollowed out mini pumpkins make great containers for votives and tealights!

Candle Idea #2: Get round "cylinder" type vases and fill about 2/3 with harvest corn and place a candle on top.

Candle Idea#3: There are lots of floating candles that come in pumpkins, fall leaves, etc. This is an easy and inexpensive centerpiece.

Candle Idea#4: Place a fat orange or yellow candle in a low bowl. Fill the bowl around the base of the candle with orange and black jellybeans or candy corn. For a larger display create a candle `garden` on a platter, and fill the base with candy corn.

Candle Idea#5: Add fall floral rings to your taper candles.

You can get LOTS of ideas by going to any search engine and typing in "elegant fall centerpieces". I saw lots of things, but I am not able to give you specific websites. If you want TAPER CANDLES, I did see one site that sells taper candles that look like harvest corn! How cute! Another site had "foil wrapped chocolates" that looked like harvest corn. You could tie some of these up in tulle for favors!

Good luck! A barn sounds VERY unique and fun!
