HELP......Mom Is Making My Wedding Dress
I am getting married in October of 2005. I know it seems like a while from now but I am trying to get ahead start on things. I am going to have my mom make my wedding dress because I want something completely different. I have been looking for patterns and I just can`t seem to find anything that I really really like. I just keep finding the some thing. I was wondering if anyone can give me ideas of where to possibly find patterns or where I can find a place to order dress patterns on-line. PLEASE HELP. I want to start getting ideas of what I want so my mom can figure out what we are gonna have to do.

What I did was went to a bridal Salon & found what I was looking for then my seamstress went with me to try the dress on so they Know what it looks like & we also got some pictures of me in the dress for her to refer to while making it.
Hope This Helps

Have you tried looking at patterns for evening dresses ? They tend to be more varied. It would be quite easy to customise them and make them more elaborate if that was what you wanted- eg adding silk flowers/ feathers to the bodice or whatever.

I went through the same thing with my dress -- it was handmade by my best friend, who is a seamstress. I never found one `single` pattern that I liked, so we ended up improvising....I bought one pattern with the neckline/bodice that I liked and used another pattern with the `skirt` area (i.e. One was more streamlined vs. One that flares, etc.) From that point, she did a little bit of extra work to fit them both together, but it turned out beautifully. We then chose beautiful french lace for trim -- and that was our own idea ....so add your creativeness also!! Best of luck...and I`m sure it will be beautiful!

Hi,
You could try buying a plain white dress and have it custom beaded and appliqued. The rates for this are not bad. Then you will have a gown like no-one else has .
