I Need Help Planning.

I need help planning my wedding. I`m not very close to anyone who knows what to do...so I`m basically doing it all myself. I can`t afford a wedding planner. I have no idea where to start. All I know is I want to have a black, silver and white color scheme.

Dear Katie,

Never say never to a wedding planner. Get what you want and deserve. I`m a wedding planner and I have done fabulous weddings on a dime. I can offer you some great ideas, when is your wedding date and where are you getting married?

Don`t worry about the cost of my services. While some wedding planners may only work with those with "higher-end" budgets, I do not turn any brides away based on cost. I can help you even if we aren`t in the same geographic area. I cover spans ranging up to 500 miles from my central location.

Visit my site for more info, & feel free to contact me. My passion for weddings will definitly set you in the right direction.

Best of luck!

Sincerely,

Melissa

Hi. I`m a bride myself planning my own wedding. I didn`t know where to start either. I hired a wedding planner (that was within my budget) to help me find a good place to start and she just didn`t work out at all. (DO NOT HIRE CHRISTINE FROM ELEGANT OCCASIONS, she also advertises on this site) She didn`t find any vendors for me, she was lazy, she didn`t like to do research, I ended up finding my own vendors.

Any way, my point is, you can do it by yourself. If you`ve chosen your maid of honor and bridesmaids already, have them help you out. First, you need to start off creating a budget. But don`t let others fool you. You can`t just put a price on something like that so easily. It`s harder than "just coming up with a budget". First figure out what you want. What type of wedding would you like to have. Then, wherever you`re located, start doing research around your area finding out what different types of venues cost. Try hotels, halls, banquet rooms, etc. Just call or look on their website and have them give you quotes.

Another thing you have to realize is that everything depends on everything else. The venue costs will depend on how many people you will invite. But the # of people you`d like to invite depend on your budget (per person). See what I`m saying? But you have to start somewhere. So what I did was just started looking at venues just to get an idea of what kind of money I`m looking at spending. If you think you can`t afford a $10,000 dollar wedding, (or perhaps you can afford more), try to keep it simple. It all depends on what "type" of wedding you want. It also depends on what day too. If you want it on the "traditional" Saturday evening, well in some locations this will cost more.

Buy some bridal magazines and go to any bridal expos in your area. These are also a great start and can help you decide what you want. Just start looking at pictures, and getting ideas of the types of things you want.

I`ve been planning my wedding for the past 4 months now; we`re getting married next May. Believe me, it was hard at first because I too, like you didn`t know where to begin. But ask around, co-workers, friends, family, they can all give you ideas of what they spent or how much it could cost you. But one thing I can`t stress enough it to stay organized!! Keep everything you find (pictures from magazines, websites, etc.) organized in a binder.

JCPenney has a bridal folder that they give away (the purple one) if you register at least 15 items. I just did it for the folder. This folder also has some great tips and a budget keeper and a checklist, etc. This has helped me. And even if you don`t have the money to afford a planner, hey, ask a friend to help you, I`m sure she`d be more than happy to!!

Good luck!!!
