Silk Vs. Real Roses

I`m having a little situation with the flowers I have chosen for my wedding. I`m spending a considerable amount of money on my wedding which my future husband and I are mostly paying for. I`m trying to cut corners wherever I can and I have the perfect hall, dress, and limo, etc. But I want to do silk roses vs real ones. I can`t see spending a ton of money for something that will die in a matter of hours. My Mother and I are in constant arguments over this because she thinks silk roses will look tacky. I for one am allergic to the pollen in flowers and I don`t want to be sneezing all day and have my eyes watering like Niagara Falls. I also thought of doing just my bouquet real along with the corsages and boutineers. The centerpieces and bridesmaids flowers would be silk. Could anyone please give me some suggestions of what is appropriate and what is not with regards to this? Also, I am supposed to be setting up the church for whatever I would like. What do you set up the church with? Do I bring my own candles and what are they used for? Please help.

We`ve decided to use Silk Flowers I don`t know where you`re at but Hobby Lobby has a gorgeous selection of Silk Flowers & when They`re on Sale you can get a bush of Roses for $5.00 on Sale Half Price. Just go in & check them out. If You`re paying for things don`t allow yourself to be bullied in to spending unneccesary Money on items that you can save on.
Hope I`ve helped.

I decided on silk flowers for the cost reason as well. However, if you do that you still need to find somebody to make the bouquets, or make them yourself. If you get the right flowers at the Hobby Lobby 1/2 price sales, you`re all set. And as for candles, I have to take my own. And we`re only having our unity candle and the two beside it. Talk with the pastor about that, they should have your answer. But good luck with your flowers. And don`t let your mom bully you. I know its hard, I`m going through the same thing.
Good Luck!

Thanks, Ladies. That helps a lot. I was beginning to think I was out in left field for a minute. I live in Massachusetts and I wasn`t successful in finding a Hobby Lobby, but I did find some florist shops that carry silk flowers. My future mother-in-law is putting together the arrangements along with the centerpieces. ( Which is another story............I have no idea what to do for centerpieces.) I`m having a Black & White theme with blush roses and white casablanca lilies. I like the floating candle idea, but I`m looking for something a little more original. Any ideas?

Help with flowers!
Having helped many brides with their flowers I find that it has been a mix of fresh vs.silk.
I have always felt that it is nice to give the table centerpeices (if you have them) away to special people but then you could do that with fresh too.
I have come to do more in fresh because they are less expensive in the long run. But then I pass along wholesale prices to the bride. I would like to send you an e-mail j.peg that will test you to prove which is fresh and which is silk. Both photograph beautifully and no one will know in the years to come.
Please e-mail me @ eventphoto32837@yahoo.com and I will send j.peg file your way.

Hi,
I just wanted to say, my 20th wedding anniversary is next month, I went with silk flowers. I am looking at my bouquet right now. I love them as much today as I did on my wedding day. I also had silk flower bouquets for my maid of honor and brides maid which they were able to keep as a gift. You won`t regret doing your flowers in silk.

I prefer real flowers, but its your wedding. You should have what you want. Lots of people use silk flowers. You can`t even tell in the photographs if the flowers are silk or real. So it doesn`t matter.
