Sundays

We just got engaged on June 29 th. The ten year anniversery of our first date. We were planning to have it on the same day in 2008 . Which I thought was a Saturday, but it `s leap year and now falls on Sunday. The person who told us today said it was just wrong to get married on a Sunday and tha knowone will marry us anyway so we could not have it on the 29 th after all and we had to have a different date instead. I felt she was attacking us and she was not saing all thai nicely.
A reply would be great
Thanks

Hi Wendy:
Congratulations! You don`t say whether you want your wedding ceremony in a church or at another venue. I work as a secretary at a Lutheran Church. We have had a couple of Sunday weddings. It all depends on your minister/pastor. Another option if you don`t want a church wedding is to have a judge, justice of the peace, or another minister at an outdoor location and then there would not be any problem! The ONLY problem would be.....people have to work on Monday so your reception could get thinned out quickly if you were having a night reception. If you are doing something during the day, this would not be a problem! Check with your minister/pastor to see if he/she would perform a Sunday wedding -- some will, some will not -- it all depends on the person.
Also......one VERY POSITIVE thing.....most banquet facilities are open and available on Sunday. Saturday, of course, is their premium time and would book up fast, but not Sunday. You may even get a discount because it`s an "OFF DAY"! To me, it sounds fun and DIFFERENT!! Good luck!

Ok this might sound crazy but you could do a late night reception on Friday and get married just after midnight - of course this means your event would be in reverse order - dinner - dancing - then the ceremony -but just think it could all be candlelight.....this depends on if you are more traditional or open to some thing different - would or guest party all night or be in bed by 10pm?
Sunday is becoming more popular - you can get discounts but the hall you chose may have a Saturday event and may not be able to clean up fast enough - plus you could not get a day early to decorate.
Good luck
