Attending My First Bridal Shower

Yes, you should either purchase from the registry (which is safe) or you can purchase a gift elsewhere if you prefer. But you do need to bring a gift to the shower. Many showers are all female though more and more are having couples showers but I believe that would of been stated on the invitation, if that were the case. As for dress, something nice but doesn`t have to be overly dressy...in the old days they would say "sunday clothes" lol! Have fun! Hope this helps!
