Reem Acra "Grand" For Sale
I am selling the gorgeous Reem Acra gown I wore on my October, 2006 wedding day. I purchased it as a sample for $2,595.00 from BrideCouture, (www.bridecouture.com ). Nicknamed “Grand,” it retails for over $4,000. I am asking $1500.00. The Reem Acra label indicates size 10; I wear size 4-6 in street clothes and am 5’8”.
The gown has been minimally altered. I had the bodice taken in slightly by an expert seamstress who also hemmed it to fit my “in heels” height of 5’9 ½ ”. This seamstress also designed the custom bustle.
This elegant, ivory silk ball gown is the definitive “princess dress”. It is strapless with a chapel length train and soft box pleats falling from a slightly dropped waist. It is fully lined (double zippered with bra cups added) and is very full due to the many under-layers of tulle – no need for an extra petticoat. The sheen of the fabric makes the gown appear as if lit from within. The skirt drapes beautifully and gives an impression of fluidity as the wearer moves.
The bodice is lushly ornamented with crystal beading, faux pearls and rhinestones, and is lushly embroidered (in typical Reem Acra style) with silver thread and floral designs in palest shades of sage, pink and primrose. The back of the bodice is beautifully sculpted.
The chapel length train picks up the elaborate embroidered design of the bodice, scaled to fit a fan shaped panel dropping from waist to hem. The custom thirteen (13) point, combination over-and-under bustle was specially designed to display the magnificent embroidery on the train to its best advantage.
I received a tremendous number of wedding day compliments on my gown (the “wow” factor of “Grand” is very high!). Months later, when I got our wedding photos, I was trilled with how great the gown looks and with how great the gown makes me look.
After my wedding day, I had the gown cleaned and preserved by J. Scheer & Co. Of New York. (Please see the J. Scheer & Co. Website at www.jscheer.com for details on their process of evaluation, cleaning and preservation.) The gown is in fabulous condition and ready for another bride to wear and enjoy.
The gown is listed at www. Preownedweddingdresses.com along with several photos. Please contact me for more info or additional photos.
